And that’s a wrap! Six weeks ago, our leadership team – Liam Cummins, Nathalie Lion, Lee Marks, Sandip Mahajan and Jalal Fitoury – embarked on a worldwide roadshow to meet and share our future strategy with as many colleagues as possible. This week brought the event to a close, with sessions in Riyadh and Dubai in the Middle East, and Minneapolis and Bloomfield in the United States. Thank you to Mohammad Abu Attieh, Alessio De Mitri and Michael Pedersen for hosting. During our tour, we have: - Visited all our regions and brands, travelling from Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and London, to Hong Kong, the United States and the Middle East - Met face to face with just over 800 people – key messages will be cascaded to the rest of our workforce in the new year - Answered over 120 questions through interactive Q&A sessions. I will be facilitating these upcoming public workshops and can't recommend this work enough. I read the books "Crucial Conversations" and "Influencer" in 2010 and instantly recognised that every person I'd ever worked with as a coach and facilitator would benefit immensely from learning these skills. So I sought to become a facilitator of these workshops and have witnessed how life-changing the skills are. Too often, we shy away from having difficult conversations, for fear of damaging the relationship or making career-limiting choices. We stay silent for too long or we water down or sugar-coat our message to the point that our communication is unclear and ineffective. Crucial Conversations teaches us the most skillful way to structure all conversations and how to approach them in a way that is safe and constructive. People come on the workshop thinking that there are important conversations that they simply cannot have. After two days, they feel empowered and able to go out the next day and address any kind of issue with anyone. When it comes to influencing human behaviour (the fundamental leadership skill), we know that "there is no strategy so brilliant that your people can't render it worthless" (Joseph Grenny)! I love practical models and Influencer answers the question around how to get people to do what you need them to do reliably, all the time, in a very practical way. What are the levers required? What is enough? What is missing? Why aren't our people doing what we've asked of them? My clients that have attended this programme all say that they wish they'd learned this framework at the very start of their leadership journey. Influencer will fundamentally change how you approach leadership, change management and strategy execution forever. Crucial Conversations is offered as a two-day, in-person workshop (this time in Cape Town) or online over five days. We are offering a one-day Influencer programme in-person in Durban in October.
