This is most likely the last design I created for Chemius! Today marks the end of my journey with Chemius as I step forward to new opportunities. It has been an incredible experience, but sometimes we need to step out of our comfort zones to grow and make critical decisions for our future. Working closely with Md Ruhul Amin Bhai, who was like a supervisor to me, I gained valuable insights and life lessons. Over the last three months, I learned three key things: 1. The workspace must foster an environment for learning. In these three months, my learning curve was 80% higher than in my previous nine months combined, thanks to my co-workers. 2. Regardless of workload or pressure, maintaining confidence and self-esteem is essential. 3. No matter the tasks or deadlines, we must always make time for prayer. We are employees of our workplace, but servants of our Creator, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. I have had the privilege of working alongside talented individuals like Mahabobur Rahaman Pollob Bhai, hardworking colleagues like Md. Hakim Bhai, and those like Anamul Bhai, who were focused on bridging gaps and embracing new technologies to keep us on track. I will miss them all, but I believe this is the beginning of a new chapter. We must pursue what we have planned, or more importantly, what Allah has planned for us. "Perhaps you dislike a thing and it is good for you, and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not." We’ve started something pretty special at #TeamHorowhenua creating positions called Kaitiaki, and it's totally changing the game for how we manage community safety, customer service, and engaging with our community. It's so special, that last week the kaupapa won an award at our Horowhenua District Council Matariki Kaimahi Awards for the Waipunarangi - Pīpīwharauroa / Enhancing Communities Award 🏆🏅🤩 And here's why it was so worthy of winning this award and why I'm proud as punch - Instead of sticking with the old-school way of doing security, we decided to try something new in response to a rise in anti-social behaviour. The big idea was to create roles that are all about keeping things safe but also connecting with people in the community, making everyone feel like they belong and are taken care of. Integrating roles that not only maintains security needs but deeply connects with and uplifts our community, embodying the values of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga 🧡🫶 The Kaitiaki programme is all about making our community facilities, like Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō – our community hub/library in Levin, safe and welcoming for everyone. Weaving a fabric of safety and belonging throughout our vibrant community hub. And, It's working very well. We've seen less trouble and more people engaging with not only our two Kaitiaki, but also other members of the team, which is exactly what we wanted. These roles are a perfect match for our Council’s strategic community outcomes - building communities that are empowered, vibrant and strong. We're mixing safety with making sure everyone feels important and valued 🙌 🤗 Receiving the award and pictured below is Tu (Tukaki) and Jo, who are our amazing Kaitiaki and do us proud every day.
