When I say “tech sales recruiting”… what comes to mind? If you just now had a negative thought as a result of reading the phrase “tech sales recruiting” it means there is a problem. I’ve had countless encounters with recruiters during my tech sales career. Most of them were not awesome. Recruiting has been beat down, taken for granted and pushed aside as a cost center that provides little value to sales leaders looking to hire top talent. ——— The reason recruiting exists is to find the people that aren’t looking to make a move away from their current role. Recruiters have to find them AND sell them on the idea to interview with a different “dream” company. The problem is this is not how it typically goes. ——- Recruiters are lazy (most of them). They reach out to a candidate and if their experience matches up, they are mildly interested in the opportunity and they can fog a window they qualify for an interview. Quantity over quality. They don’t have the ability to sell the candidate on the opportunity because they didn’t get enough information from the hiring manager on the market, the company, the role and the past performance of those 3. So, they don’t have anything enticing to tell top tier reps. The hiring manager loses confidence in the recruiters ability to bring them top tier reps and everyone’s trust in the process degrades over time. ——— Recruiting is broken. But It doesn’t have to be. #InTheArena
