We build the world’s best VC, PE & executive search businesses 🚀

The common theme I am hearing from the VC/PE Talent Partners and the Executive Search community, is that the name on the door of the search firm is not the most important factor in winning work. Talent Partners are looking for the individual track record of the Search Partner they are working with and they want that Partner to be leading the search, not palming it off to the team. Weekly at Tempting Talent, we speak with Principals or Partners who are at big name firms, who are reticent to leave their brand. Rather than viewing joining a boutique as taking a risk, you should view this is an opportunity to build your PERSONAL brand. Winning and completing 10 searches yourself, will outweigh being a part of 20 searches under someone else!

Yes some companies do hire based on brand, think of the "SHREK" firms, but the personal brand of the recruiter/sales person is driving it most of the way now. If my personal brand or relationships were nothing, I wouldn't have the client base I have today!
