How a Conversation with Flagsmith’s Co-Founder Changed My Outlook I had the chance to attend the Disruptive Tech event in London by Civo, where I connected with incredible people from Cebros.dev, Flagsmith, and onAgent. I had a wonderful chat with both Kyle Johnson, co-founder of Flagsmith, and Keiran O'Brien. The event highlighted innovative technologies that define disruptive tech: finding gaps in the market and solving real problems. It was inspiring to see how these companies tackle challenges and position their solutions effectively. Kyle was humble and patiently listened to my questions, providing insightful responses. Here are 3 key lessons I took away from these discussions: Always upskill yourself ↳Continuously seek out new knowledge and skills to stay relevant in a fast- paced tech landscape. Practice active listening ↳Engage fully in conversations; it’s not just about speaking but understanding others' perspectives. Stay curious ↳Cultivate a mindset of exploration; don’t hesitate to ask questions and seek out new ideas. It was an enriching experience, and I’m grateful for the chance to connect with such brilliant minds. And now, to answer the question from my previous post: The average time a recruiter spends on a CV is just 7 seconds! This emphasizes the importance of crafting a compelling and concise CV. #Civo #DisruptiveTech #Learning #Innovation #TechCommunity #Networking #PersonalGrowth

Ever feel like you're wasting time with new talent? When we hire someone new to our team, It's to free ourselves from certain tasks To have more time to concentrate on other tasks that have more impact. But even with SOPs, sometimes it's hard for them to understand. We're not going to shout at them, we're entrepreneurs. It's our fault, we must have done something wrong. Picking on one member of the team isn't going to make us go any faster. What you need to do instead is set up a quizz right from the start. Before interviewing anyone, make sure they're aligned with your company. This will allow you to filter the good people from the bad and keep the real talent. I received over 20 applications to my quizz and only kept one person. Comment "FILTER" and I'll send you my quizz!

You'll often hear polished, perfect pitches about how to act in the professional world. But I'm a real guy, that regularly makes very real mistakes ... And I think it's important to show that no squeaky-clean image comes without years of grind and dusting up your knees a little. Not that i'm squeaky-clean, but you catch my drift? So, with The Apprentice final looming next week, I've been thinking, why not throw it back to my own beginnings? Considering I hadn't actually run my own business full-time until directly after this show. My plan is to spend the next week sharing my most embarrassing, ridiculous publicly humiliating moments from five years ago (when I thought I knew what I was doing) After all, if you can't laugh at your own pain, then what's the point? Total regrets = 0 In a bid to show that being 'perfect' might look good on a resume, but it doesn't tell the whole story. But starting a business never is, and NEVER will be without failure and ridicule. It's just the way it is. And if anyone would like to argue that never making a mistake is possible, I call bllsht. However, if there's one thing I've learned over the last five years It's not about how many times you fall. It's about how you get back up that really matters! #theapprentice #startupstory #hussel #growth

"The only constant in life is change" – Heraclitus (or maybe it was Bowie? 🤔 ) We’re big fans of change here at PitchMe, especially the kind that makes your life easier. That’s why we've been working behind the scenes on some powerful updates to New Business Sourcing - small tweaks, big results! Here’s what’s new: 🔍 Glassdoor added We’ve expanded our sources to include Glassdoor, giving you access to over one million employers and the contact details of hiring managers with jobs that match your profiles. 🌍 Standardized Locations Say goodbye to frustrating search limitations! You can now search global locations without worrying about non-Latin characters (think Düsseldorf vs. Dusseldorf 😉). These updates might be subtle, but they have a transformative impact on how you source new business opportunities globally! #ProductUpdate #NewBusinessSourcing #Innovation #AIRecruitment #Glassdoor #SearchSmarter

What if a single message could become the driving force of your confidence ..? Well, exactly that was what happened to me..! 🙌 . . (Picture 1/3) Four Months Ago, I was preparing for my first pitch as an intern in Business Development. Anxiety was killing me. And I can't explain how much this message from my team head helped boost my confidence level! . . . . (Picture 2/3) From the confidence I gained from the last conversation, I'm clicking pictures to post on my Social profiles as 'Successfully closed my first client at my very first attempt' before the meeting even started (imagine my confidence level), and of course, I failed miserably! . . . . . (Picture 3/3) Being that lost kid at my first pitch just because there was an extra person in the meeting, which I never expected, and assuming that my anxiety and communication skills wouldn't go hand in hand, despite attending at least four meetings per day with more than five people, with different nationalities and accents, somewhere I trusted my potential! . . . Is your education and professional background crucial for a VC? Well… Your education and professional background matter in every scenario: - Seeking a job - Launching a startup & so on. There's little difference between a job interview and a VC meeting. Both scrutinize your: - Education - Professional history - Experience - And skills They want to know what you do in your free time (ideally, work!). And if you're the right person with great ideas to drive the company forward. It's about the value you can add, your track record, and much more. So, if you believe a rocky academic or professional past can be sidestepped in the startup world… Think again. VCs seek the best, those with proven records of success. P.S.: Did you check our free pitch deck guide? You can find it on my profile!
