Depression Tip #18: Self-Forgiveness💙 In depression we can be incredibly hard on ourselves for incidents that happened in the past and we can ruminate on them and go over them again, and again, and again. The way out of this is threefold.💙 The first thing to do is to actually see whether we are entirely responsible and you may need some external help to be dispassionate about this, so that may be a therapist, it may be a counsellor someone like that who can look at a situation Impartially and dispassionately.💙 The second thing to do is then to take responsibility for your role in whatever the incident was and to try to make amends and try to work on why the situation happened and prevent it from happening again in the future.💙 The third thing to do is to self forgive. It's important to give yourself forgiveness for making mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. You accept the responsibility for that mistake, you make amends for that mistake to the best you can and then you forgive yourself. Then you can move on.💙 https://lnkd.in/eZiGwdW3 #selfforgiveness #depressionrecovery #depressionsurvivor #depressiontruth #depressionheroes #mdd #majordepression #clinicaldepression #managedepression #healdepression #mentalwellness #healingjourney #recoveryispossible #mentalhealthawareness #selfcare #innerpeace #positivemindset #overcomingdepression

You are not alone. Oddly, when we are going though struggling moments in our life, we think that no one will understand or that we will be judged negatively about our struggle. Our anxious and depressed brains have a tendency to llie to us. Please know that people will understand, if they don't they still want to listen and help. People who don't know you may judge harshley, but those who love you will not. They want to help. You are not alone in your struggles, reach out to a trusted friend. If you don't want to share with anyone you know, reach out to me. I will listen with out judgment and listen to understand. Tag someone who can use some encouragment to get help. #mentalhealth #anxiety #depression #therapy #urbanferncoactive #selfcare

One of the worst aspects of depression is what I like to call self -bullying energy. It's the unrelenting stream of negative thoughts directed at yourself. So it's self -critical and it's self -rejecting. ❤️ And it's a stream of constant thoughts along the lines of, I should, I have to, I must, I've got to, why can't I? And it's very critical, very judgmental and very negative. And it takes a long time to unwind those thoughts. ❤️ But the first step is for other people to show compassion, and then the person with depression can model that and show compassion to themselves. ❤️ #depressionrecovery #depressionsurvivor #depressiontruth #depressionheroes #mdd #majordepression #clinicaldepression #managedepression #healdepression #mentalwellness #healingjourney #recoveryispossible #mentalhealthawareness #selfcare #innerpeace #positivemindset #overcomingdepression

♂️Depression isn't always about sad faces or low mood. It can manifest as happiness, joy, and laughter, making it a complex mental health issue. Individuals can be high-functioning despite experiencing depression, showcasing strength and resilience in the face of inner struggles. 💭In mental illness, high-functioning covers a broad spectrum; you might have a job, be studying, dress well, or even have the 'perfect' lifestyle. High-functioning mental illness means being able to go about most days as if there isn't a war going on in your head, or panic ricocheting through your body 💙Today's quote is a tribute to many comedians who have tragically died by suicide, including Robin Williams, Stephen 'Twitch' Boss, Brody Stevens, Freddie Prinze, Richard Jeni, Andrew Koenig, and more. These talented individuals were battling with depression before making their final decision. 🕯Let's take a moment to remember them and check on those who may be silently suffering but outwardly showing strength. 🤲🏽It's crucial to remember to check on your strong, happy, and joyful friends. Even though they might be facing challenges daily, their ability to mask their struggles can often lead others to overlook or assume they are doing well. 🫂To all the comedians, the life of the party, jokers, and positive people out there – you are seen, heard, and felt. Remember, you are not alone. It's important to reach out, speak to someone, and understand that you are truly valued, loved, and cared for. 🐦🔥12th of June 2024: #MensMentalHealth #MensMentalHealthAwareness #Men #MensHealth #SeekHelp #June #YouMatter #Depressed #Depression #Rejection #MyJourney #LifeLessons #IAmNotAlone #InspirationalQuotes #Quotes #SpritualAwakening #SelfDiscovery #InnerSelf #InnerPeace #TrevorNoah #Reflection #Representation #EndTheStigma #Comedians #SupportMatters

Here are three quick ideas for ways you can help someone who's struggling with depression because it's not always obvious what to say or what to do for the best for someone who's struggling with depression. The first idea is to offer some physical assistance. If there are chores that need doing like some dishes that are stacked up, or the room's untidy and needs a quick vacuum, or you could maybe collect groceries for the person, that would be appreciated because the person with depression is probably struggling with exhaustion and finds doing those chores overwhelming. Secondly is some immediate support just by listening to the person. Offer them the chance of a cup of coffee or a cup of tea and a chat to "tell me how you're feeling", "what's going on for you", that would be appreciated in most circumstances. And number three is a kind of, if you're comfortable doing it, a lifeline into the future. Say, "I'm available to listen to you whenever you need, here's my phone number". The person may very well not call you, but it's the offer of support that's important, the offer of support in all of these situations. So those are three things that you can do to help someone who's currently suffering from depression. #depression #healdepression #whattosay #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessweek #mentalhealthawareness #depressionawareness #depressionhelp #endthestigma #stopthestigma #mentalillness #exhaustion #mentalwellness #mentalillnessawareness #itsokaynottobeokay #epicentering
