New Substack dropping tomorrow about how I like watching my narcissistic asshole jerks on Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Curb Your Enthusiam not on Twitter or CNN. :) Unfortunately our world has become a twisted comedy that has yet to reach the punchline...and the neo-liberalism here in the West is pile-driving people further into depression. It feels as though we are stuck in a hazy present that worships nostalgia while never being able to re-imagine the future. For the past several generations we have kept re-hashing the dreams of our grandparents and getting no closer. If you fail and try again and keep trying over and over...well that's insanity. Maybe we need to stop treating ourselves as products and how we can "maximize our potential" or "reach our most amazing self." By living in a constant state of dissatisfaction, we are always looking at outside ways to make ourselves feel better. And there's always a guru or self-help seminar who is ready to charge us top dollar to turn us into that special snowflake we've always been told we were. How can we ever find peace if we are in a constant state of disrepair? And then on the other side of the spectrum are the narcissists who measure themselves with their clout, believing that if they stopped existing the world would stop turning. Ahhh the extremes. Everywhere we turn, we are in extremes. AI will save us...AI will destroy us. Everything is in a state of binary zero sum battles. I hope one day we can find the middle path. And keep our assholes where they belong...on scripted comedies so we can turn them off when we get tired of them.
