For me, being someone who studied climate change, the question of climate tipping points has always been a subject of particular anxiety. Can they or can't they, are they or aren't they? There has been some discussion of late regarding how the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation might have begun its 'tip'. I'm taking a little solace from a new study that says the people-in-the-know are a lot less in-the-know about this subject. Anti-Climate Change scientists and orgs with published material and websites! Part 5! First, there has been no change reported in surface temperatures since about the year 2000, indicating no current warming. This so-called “pause” (or hiatus) has generated much controversy. Considering the projected $2 trillion climate adaptation market by 2026, the constant bombardment of climate information raises suspicions for me especially given that this article contradicts what we’ve been told. I fully support the idea of doing more to protect the planet, especially in relation to mobility, but I'm skeptical about the information we're receiving when it seems to be driven by financial motives. #Climatechangemoneypot #climatedeception #automotive

New paper out in Science Advances: we found that the last ice age provides stronger constraints on Earth's "climate sensitivity" to CO2 and on future warming from fossil fuels, after accounting for the non-local impacts of the North American ice sheet.

As the planet continues to warm, tropical cyclones will likely reach wind speeds well above the category-5 threshold, according to new research in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). Introducing a new category-6 designation could better convey the heightened wind risks driven by climate change, conclude Michael F. Wehner and James P.
