„Almost 80% of the respondents, all from the authoritative Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), foresee at least 2.5C of global heating above preindustrial levels, while almost half anticipate at least 3C (5.4F). Only 6% thought the internationally agreed 1.5C (2.7F) limit will be met. Many of the scientists envisage a “semi-dystopian” future, with famines, conflicts and mass migration, driven by heatwaves, wildfires, floods and storms of an intensity and frequency far beyond those that have already struck.“ #climateemergency #future #management

Friendly reminder that at 3°C warming there are no more coral reefs (if your livelihood depends on fishing you can go kick rocks), there's no more Amazon Rainforest (we get a dope Savannah instead) and no more Arctic sea ice during summer (hello decreased Albedo causing more warming). A big part of the permafrost melts (adding even more warming) and due to erratic weather and sea level rise a ginormous chunk of our current infrastructure that we burned so much fossil fuels to construct, will become economically worthless (sick, another financial crisis). Let's ponder the impacts on global food availability in silence. 🤫

77% of leading experts expec global warming to exceed 2.5°C by 2100, far surpassing the Paris Agreement targets. Their words, such as "hopeless," "broken," and "overwhelmed," underscore the gravity of the situation and the urgent need for transformative action. 💔 As the article highlights, the lack of political will and interference from corporate interests are seen as major barriers to progress. The unequal impact on the Global South and the failure of wealthy nations to step up their efforts are also deeply troubling. 🌐❌ Despite the grim outlook, we must not lose hope. The rapid advancements in clean technologies and the potential for social tipping points offer glimmers of optimism. We need to amplify the voices of younger generations fighting for a sustainable future. 🌿✊ It is our collective responsibility to demand bold, immediate measures from our leaders to drastically reduce emissions,🌍🔥 Let us stand in solidarity with these courageous scientists and commit to being part of the solution. Together, we can create the political will necessary to forge a path towards a livable future for all. 💪🌿 #ClimateCrisis #ClimateAction #ParisAgreement #ClimateJustice #FossilFuels

For me, being someone who studied climate change, the question of climate tipping points has always been a subject of particular anxiety. Can they or can't they, are they or aren't they? There has been some discussion of late regarding how the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation might have begun its 'tip'. I'm taking a little solace from a new study that says the people-in-the-know are a lot less in-the-know about this subject. I continue to grapple with whether or not this is a good thing..... #climatechange #climatecrisis #climateaction #globalclimate #climateadaption #climatechangeadaption https://lnkd.in/erDShGRH

Your life may feel fun and normal because you are unaware of many global issues like flooding, droughts, conflicts, and ecosystem breakdowns. However, we are facing a global climate crisis, and we are the last generation that can take action now to mitigate it. When you come across such news, please feel encouraged rather than discouraged, and be motivated to intensify your efforts.
