When the quality of search results hits the news, you know something is wrong 😑 For people who work in the search industry, obsessing over search experience is a given. Search is only noticeable for everyone else when it goes wrong or causes friction. Besides putting pressure on Google to do something different, we can learn something from this. We, as search professionals, are not typical users. Tech journalists still aren’t even great. When real members of the public are complaining, Google may be forced to respond. Watching how headlines and Alphabet’s stock prices track is also interesting 😉 https://buff.ly/3QZu27u

Three market trends that signify a changing landscape within the search ecosystem, posing challenges for Google as it navigates evolving user behaviors and technological advancements. 1. Shift in User Preferences: Users are showing a growing preference for Amazon for shopping and TikTok for local recommendations, diverting traffic away from Google. 2. Emergence of AI-Powered Answer Engines: The rise of AI-powered tools directly caters to user queries, potentially reducing the reliance on traditional search engines like Google. 3. Decrease in Search Result Quality: The increase in AI-generated content is leading to a decline in the quality of search results. AI summaries are becoming more prevalent, discouraging users from clicking on links, which could impact search engine marketing and ad revenue. #Search #Digitaladvertising #SEM #searachenginemarketing
