They'll never mate. He has to find her in order for that to happen. So 2 critical things for OFM is number 1. He smells pheromone. He just shuts down. He's like, wow, there's a lot of pheromone. I don't even know what to do physiologically. They are unable to respond for about 24 hours after they come across a large pheromone source. If they do find a female, they still have to be like the sexiest guy, have the sexiest dance to make that happen. But we are seeing OFM increase in orchard. So it's happening. They are being successful. For OFM. It's different. It's not competitive attraction, it's a non competitive. So we can put this cloud affair one out there and every dispenser we add to the orchard has an equal addition. Carbon month, we saw the first few dispensers had the most impact and then it turned into this curvilinear response OFM. We know if we just keep adding them we'll get to 0. And that's around 150 to 200 dispensers per acre. So. I'm going to summarize some of this. Blood works by non competitive mechanisms like camouflage or just physiologically deactivating the males. It inhibits their searching so they don't find females or interferes with their courtship. How many moth much different we can be really successful with coping with, but it's competitive attraction. So we need lots of dispensers or we need to drive that population down towards zero. And no, it's down there by monitoring our orchard for many years and then you can use aerosols. So sprays rarely stop both insects anymore because the overlap is nonexistent. The good thing about pheromones is you put them up once, they're going to work for you all season, for both or all three generations. Cotton mouth efficacy is density dependent. Keep those rates up. 304 hundred per acres best. So if you're having issues, use high rates. Ohh them if you're having OFM injury in your orchard you should start using LFM Fairmont waiting instruction because it's a no brainer you put it out. You can turn your orchard around in about a season. 2 hundred 150 to 200 dispensers per acre. It'll last all season. You can use aerosols for both of these pests. Codling moth. You have to drive that population down towards 0 before you switch the aerosols. For all AFM. They're really sensitive, so you can start out with aerosols if you need to, and there are about one per acre. So from my company, we offer a diverse array of products for cottonmouth. We have hand applied dispensers, we have CM Flex and CT that are put out in high rates. If you're looking for the low labor option, that would be our CMS, CMS Plus. And we have a can that has CM and OFM in it. If you're only looking at PFM to drive that down, if you're comfortable with your cottonmouth program, you can add OFT. That's a hand applied dispenser. Or you could again use that combination can the CM well I found. And with that, thank you for listening.

Just published - Pathogen of the Month. Finding a read? Here it is. We wrote a fact sheet about Phytophthora parvispora, a new pathogen causing gummosis and root rot in citrus, in the latest issue of Pathogen of the Month (POTM, December 2023) - Australasian Plant Pathology Society. Although Phytophthora parvispora has been reported for the first time in Vietnam and South-East Asia, they have not been reported widely, especially in Australia, as the causative agent of gummosis and root rot in citrus. We believe that this fact sheet would be useful to the plant pathology community in Australia, especially for those working with tropical fruit and citrus trees.
