Metro Madness! Ⓜ️🚇 ...and the Olympics start in just 2 weeks! One thing that has always baffled me about the underground train system in Paris is their persistence with the paper ticketing system. You’d think they’d follow the UK's lead with contactless payments and Apple Pay. I was told that due to data security concerns, they chosen to stick with paper tickets. I do however understand the advantages of physcial tickets, especially for the elderly and vulnerable, who may not be as comfortable with the technology. Nevertheless, this results in huge queues forming in the metro, which come 26th July when the Olympics start, will likely lead to absolute chaos - especially as the temperatures rise. Even on a typical day in Paris, the queues for metro tickets are long. Add thousands of fans heading to the Olympics into the mix and it’s bound to be hectic. They did introduce the Navigo Card, which is a step towards paperless, but you still need to queue to buy and top it up. It's a step in the right direction but still not as simple as Apple Pay. Maybe there are some experts out there who can shed light on this? The Navigo Card is a great solution for Parisians but not for tourists, who often seem confused. This confusion can cause stress and make it harder for visitors to enjoy one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I’m on my monthly commute back to the UK, feeling like I’m living the life of planes, trains, and automobiles - the joys of residing in the French countryside! 😄 Another observation is the increased police presence in the metro. This could be in response to political unrest, the imminent start of the Olympics, or just the general tension in Paris at the moment. Hoping the city can successfully navigate these challenges in the coming weeks! #paris #france #parismetro #contactlesspayment #technology #olympicgames #olympicgamesparis2024 #parisian #citylife #iledefrance #digitaltransformation #publictransport #traveltips #paris2024 #commuting

MWC 2024 was my first international media junket where I represented Business Insider India. While we had agents guiding us through out the event, there is some informal guidance which I lacked. Now that my bandwidth is getting open slowly, I found some time to put together a - guide! Some suggestions and walk through around MWC. Fortunately they are applicable across the globe, if you read it with context. I will also circle back to this, if I get an opportunity again for MWC. Here I describe - -Travel Plans -Arrival in Barcelona -Planning the coverage -My media kit- how I used Apple iPhone & Macbook to pull of 12 videos alone, without a dedicated camera person.

DE and its mobile internet and cell phone connectivity. This evening, while traveling via DeutscheBahn from Berlin to Cologne, I needed to have a phone call with a friend of mine to coordinate our next possible collaboration moves. We started our call at around Hamm therefore entering a densely populated area of Germany to ensure a good connectivity. We could not speak for 5min straight without loosing our already poor-quality cell phone audio connection. Internet video call via Teams or GoogleMeets was not even an option in the first place. While this was already the case 5 years ago the world moved on. The DeutscheBahn was and is still firmly standing still. Not a fine move for a transportation service. The service they advertise is not only transportation so(which was bad and becomes statistically proven worse each year) but to be able to be productive in this timeframe. The quality of all component combined is therefore so far behind every other nation that I cannot think of any country I visited in the last 10 years delivering less. While the prices are even in the TOP3 of this list. Germany is less and less attractive to do business in these days.

I know how much I value having fast and reliable connectivity at events that I've attended, but I've never put much thought into the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure the network can serve everyone's needs. 📡 In the latest episode of 5G Talks, Elin from Tele2 speaks about the technical aspects of setting up big arenas for 5G, and how much testing and optimization needs to take place to make sure attendees have the best possible experience. 🏟️ At the recent global sporting event in France, Anne-Flore from Orange describes how temporary mobile sites were set up along the Seine, and how they were able to carry a huge 25% of all mobile traffic! 📶 And during the quarter final match between Germany and Spain at the European football tournament earlier this year, Peter Arbitter explains how Deutsche Telekom's network delivered an average speed of 400Mbps and handled a massive 2 terabits per second of data! Investing in 5G at live events is really paying off for these operators. How do you envision the future of connectivity at live events as technology continues to advance beyond 5G?
