As we accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across Australia, the demand on our power grid emerges as a formidable challenge. Essential to this transition is not just the availability of EVs but the infrastructure that supports them. Like Jack Kotlyar says in his presentation at the IPWEA Conference, when you are getting ready to electrify your fleet you need to realise your energy requirements are going to move from the size of a garden hose to a fire hydrant. Early and strategic planning of EV infrastructure is critical. This planning must account for the increased energy demands right from the outset rather than later once an organisation has already invested in its electric fleet. The potential risks of not having enough energy to power these vehicles, such as business uncertainty and future losses, underscore the urgency and importance of this issue. #greentransport #cleanenergy #evcharginginfrastructure Joo Yin Ong Omar Leon-Peralta Marjorie Publico Bruce Hanslo Prasad Dev Damien Kaluarachchi

Rapid rollout of clean technologies makes energy cheaper, not more costly ☀️ https://lnkd.in/g75P2PM6 From the article: "Speeding up the move to clean energy technologies improves the affordability of energy and can relieve pressures on the cost of living more broadly, according to a new International Energy Agency (IEA) special report released today.” 🧠 Our 2020 Rethinking Energy report similarly stated: "the exponential buildout of 100% solar, wind and battery (SWB) systems is already affordable and can begin immediately." (https://lnkd.in/gyu9Gaye) 4 years ago, our co-founder Tony Seba, similarly noted: “This is not an energy transition… This is a technology disruption. It is going to give us money back. It’s not going to cost money. We’re going to get money back." (last point of this 2020 presentation: https://lnkd.in/grU9ampx) 🚀As our electric power system are flipped from centralized, scarce and expensive resources to decentralized, superabundant and cheap resources, the ripple effects across our economies and societies will be even bigger than the disruption of energy itself... "An electric school bus can be used as a micro component of the grid and therefore an emergency energy resource if grid goes down for any reason. It can be used to power buildings for emergency response such as hospitals, and we can rotate them out so it’s a sustainable way in short time to provide energy where it’s needed." - Steve Mentzer, Senior EV Principal Consultant, First Student This insightful discussion was part of a panel on "Charging Operations as a Service" sponsored by Konect (Gilbarco Veeder-Root). The panelists explored how to simplify large-scale EV infrastructure deployment, with a focus on innovative solutions. This panel was moderated by Tricia Meier (EY), with speakers Deepesh Nayanar (Konect), Amy Atchley (Austin Energy), Ryan Saba (Mack Trucks) and Steve Mentzer (First Student). #EVSUMMIT | #EVSUMMITUSA | #ElectricVehicles | #EV | #Sustainability
