🔬 International Clinical Trials Day OncoRes Medical is marking International Clinical Trials Day today. Quick fact > International Clinical Trials Day is celebrated globally on 20 May to commemorate when Scottish Surgeon James Lind commenced what is recognised as the first ever randomised clinical trial in scurvy in 1747, laying the foundations for modern clinical research. 277+ years later, clinical research remains an important part of the global economy and healthcare system. For our growing business, it is vital – we are developing technology (QME – Quantitative Micro-Elastography) to change the way surgeons perform cancer surgery, supercharging the surgeons’ sense of touch. We are starting in Breast Cancer, where up to a third of patients need two or more invasive surgeries to remove all of the cancer. Our device is currently in clinical trials to test its merits in practice. So far, we have completed three clinical trials at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Western Australia; and a multisite trial has just commenced at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Melbourne Hospital in Victoria, and Fiona Stanley Hospital and Fremantle Hospital in Western Australia. These trials have supported development of our product and will support applications to the TGA and FDA. They have many moving parts – but the end goal is so worth it. Measured, ethical innovation, with the capacity to bring incredible, patient-first innovation to the operating table. #clinicaltrials #oncology # medtech #innovation #breastcancer #breastconservation #breastconservationsurgery #lumpectomy #patientsfirst #patientoutcomes

Today (June 8th) is #WorldBrainTumorDay, a day dedicated to promoting education about brain tumors and honoring those affected by them. #BrainTumors can form in various brain or central nervous system regions, resulting in cognitive impairments and motor deficits. So far, in 2024, cancers of the brain or nervous system account for 1.3% of all new cancer cases. Not all brain tumors are malignant; approximately 72% are benign. The most common benign tumors are non-malignant #Meningiomas, while the most prevalent malignant tumors are #Glioblastomas. Together, these two types account for 53.9% of all brain tumors. Around the globe, we continue to research a cure for brain tumors and develop new treatment options. Current treatments include neurosurgery, radiation, chemotherapy, precision medicine, electrical field devices, and emerging therapies in clinical trials. On this special day, we rally support for the brain tumor community, raise awareness, advocate for research, and empower patients. #BrainTumorAwareness #BrainTumorSupport #BrainTumorAdvocacy
