🌿 Check out the new thread in the ALFA Engagement Platform 🌿 Biogas technology allows farmers to turn livestock manure and organic waste into renewable energy, boosting energy independence and cutting costs. It also reduces greenhouse gas emissions and creates digestate, a natural fertilizer that enhances soil health. What are your thoughts? How can biogas shape sustainable farming, and what challenges do farmers face? 👉 Join the discussion in the thread here: https://bit.ly/3ZJPcf7

The recent protests by farmers, from Poland 🇵🇱 and France 🇫🇷 to Greece 🇬🇷, underscore the urgent need for reform in agricultural policies. 🚜🌍 One crucial aspect to address is the accessibility of affordable and clean energy. The heavy dependence of agricultural activities on fossil fuels, for machinery, equipment, and irrigation, not only strains farmers' finances but also contributes to price fluctuations in the supply chain, impacting consumers. 💰🌱 In this article, REScoop.eu project manager Chris Vrettos & Dimitris Kitsikopoulos from Electra Energy Cooperative bring forth an intriguing solution: Community agrivoltaics! 🌞🌾 Read the article: https://bit.ly/48OjPkd 📖 #Agrivoltaics #SustainableFarming #CleanEnergy #AgriculturalReform

"Unlocking ethanol access [Sept 10] The United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) recently approved a $25 million (€23 million) investment in the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE)-led Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) expansion. This builds on the successful South Dakota-based project announced in 2021 to unlock corn ethanol access to clean fuel markets and new tax incentives, such as the #45Z #cleanfuel production credit, based on the adoption of #climatesmart agricultural practices which reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The new RCPP funding will help farmers adopt reduced tillage, nutrient management and cover crops on nearly 100,000 acres across 167 counties surrounding 13 ethanol facilities partnering with ACE to implement the project in the 10-state region of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The US sites were strategically chosen to provide the project’s scientific team with statistically significant data regarding the GHG effect of conservation practices in different soil types and climates." #ethanol #biofuels #agsolutions #sustainableenergy https://lnkd.in/ePr_ZRSE

Thank you to Canada's National Observer for reaching out to First Green Energy Ltd. and covering this critical topic at the intersection of energy and land use. Solar and agriculture can not only coexist but thrive together. Ontario's agricultural history is deeply rooted in energy innovation—from early wood, biomass, and windmills, to pioneering ethanol production in the 1970s, biodiesel in the 1990s, and embracing solar in the 2000s. Today, many farms, including those supporting Ontario’s grazing livestock, are at the forefront of this evolution. While there are legitimate concerns to address, and penalties for non-compliance should be enforced, Agrivoltaics Canada is proving its value both in Ontario and globally. We believe it’s time to forge a new path where solar and agriculture, through agrivoltaics, play a pivotal role in the energy transition. #Agrivoltaics #RenewableEnergy #SolarFarms #OntarioAgriculture #EnergyTransition #SustainableFarming #onpoli #SolarGrazing Free Appropriate Sustainability Technology (FAST) Research Group Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness | Agriculture, Alimentation et Agroentreprise Energy and Electrification | Énergie et de l’Électrification Good Energy Partners Patrick Gossage Joshua Pearce
