The composable CDP is dead. Long live the CDP components. Gran post del padre del CDP Institute David Raab. Me quedo con esta frase que utiliza para hablar de la evidente relatividad del concepto composable: "...if you raise the perspective to marketing architecture, the CDP itself might be a single component alongside content management, marketing automation, email, and media buying components, while a marketing suite like Adobe would encompass them all. Go up to the enterprise level, and the marketing suite could be one component alongside finance, human resources, and operations, compared with an enterprise-wide suite like SAP."

I stumbled upon this article from Commerce Layer, and I couldn't agree more with the idea of considering part of the product data as pure content. It's the same reason why I personally don't like too much some commerce integrations within CMS, where they allow you to select products from the catalog and only save a SKU or the product URL. Imagine having content models that need to showcase or somehow promote products. We query the CMS to retrieve the component's data, and are forced to gather additional information from another platform to complete the product's editorial details. I prefer having access to editorial information in a single location, without the need to think about making additional loops or calls to render my content.
How would you create a content data model for a product catalog in a CMS? At Commerce Layer, we believe that product catalogs should be treated as any other content, housed within a CMS or a Product Information Management (PIM) system if necessary. We divide the data that comprise a digital experience into two broad categories: content data and commerce logic. Commerce logic encompasses the necessary details for performing operations around purchasing products and orders. In contrast, content data is purely for the end-user's experience. Rich content data cleanly separated from the commerce logic data underpins Commerce Layer's philosophy. Separate the logic that is essential for transactions and order fulfillment from the content designed for the end-user experience. Logic data lives in the commerce engine. Content lives elsewhere, outside the commerce engine. This separation not only enhances data management, but also simplifies transforming any website into a fully-functional digital commerce experience. Read more about how to do this with Contentful, Contentstack, and Sanity in our most recent post by Alessandro Canessa, Commerce Layer's Head of Developer Relations. Want to understand what separates Commerce Layer from the rest and what does it look like? We believe in a clear separation of concerns and focus solely on the order, i.e., the commerce logic, leaving content data to the systems purposely built for it. Alessandro Canessa explains this beautifully in this article. Have a read 👇

1 Million Products, 1 Click, No Problem Imagine if AI could read all your product attributes from a central location. Take those raw fields and turn them into something beautiful... ...well here's a little example we have been working on to simplify product data management for every product manager. Codename "NP"... Is this a new concept? Nope But right now you need custom code, a well-trained GPT, or a very expensive PIM to achieve the same result. Now imagine you hit the run button on a full product database of 1000, 10,000, or even 1,000,000 products and sit back while the magic happens. Then with one click you can update the field directly to your ecom store, ERP, or CPQ This is just one example we have been trialing, here are some others: - Hey NP, I need the price for all products in the Garden Center category increased by 10%, with a go live of 1 Jan 2025. - Yo NP, here is a big blob of raw supplier data, extract all of the product dimensions and add them to the correct fields. - Good day to you NP, here is my approved data dictionary for product colors, please take my supplier's colors and transform them into my correct color structure. Now imagine you can do this without some crazy expensive enterprise-level PIM... ...then stop imagining and get in touch for a demo ;) -------------------- Scale Smarter 💪 #pim #productdata #datatransformation #ecommerce
