Find your true north in open water by OCEANMAN Coach Cristian Ciccioli "Transitioning from pool swimming to open water can be a disorientating experience. Our level of confidence drops the moment we hit that endless body of water, and everything we knew and practised before becomes questionable. We were used to following a black line and swimming between lane ropes, and we were 100% sure that the distance was accurate. Unfortunately that’s not applicable in open water, not only because of the lack of guardrails, but also because current, waves and other factors change our trajectory in real time. I like to think that the race winner is not necessarily the fastest swimmer but the one who swims the shortest distance. And here is where orientation and sighting comes into play." Gain insights and strategies from one of our top experts to help you excel in open water, find direction, and navigate your swim journey with confidence. "All of us are swimming at work, some of us are analysts and doing technical butterfly, others of us are breast-stroking through budget sheets and contracting, some are doing front crawl in a burn of innovation and pace, different strokes and styles but still swimming...still working.... The environment in which we work best is different for different people, some of us do best where there are clear boundaries, direction of travel, roles and responsibilities are well defined and there is a clear start and end point. Swimming in lanes in a pool... Some of us prefer to be given a general direction of travel but allowed to meander, wander, dive deeper at points, vary speed and pace to suit the environment and get to the end point in the distance without being locked in too tightly to a particular landing point or location and a specific spot. Swimming in open water..... Both environments are valid for swimming and both have pros and cons and many of us will know personally passionate open water swimmers and people who are utterly addicted to pool lane swimming." Swimming Pool Signs Up To Date Signs for San Diego, a commercial sign company does a lot of swimming pool signs: no diving sign, pool rules sign, diarrhea pool sign, swim at your own risk sign and others. Why should your organization want custom Swimming signs when the pool supply store has cheap signs? It depends on your goals, most tourist spots will have branded custom signs because they want a custom look and feel, it is economics. Other organizations will have special requirements with special rules, the need for larger sizes or special placement. But the biggest reason is to comply with California’s special and odd rules. The fact is, when there is an accident, you need up to date signs. https://lnkd.in/gvmZRXaj

Swimming pools offer a refreshing retreat from the heat, but many swimmers wonder: "Will anyone cross this pool?" In casual or recreational settings, most people swim at their own pace, enjoying a leisurely dip or workout. In this case, the chances of someone crossing paths with another swimmer depend on the pool’s size and how crowded it is. In larger pools, especially those designed for lap swimming, people typically stay within their designated lanes, so collisions are rare. Swimmers often follow a rhythm, making their way back and forth without interfering with others. However, in smaller or busier pools, swimmers may have to navigate around others, especially in free swim areas. #motivation #inspiration #across #swimming #pool #challenge

Being passionate about well-being and in my quest to challenge myself, in 2023 I started open water swimming and entered the Great North Swim. Last year, I completed the half mile and here we are in 2024 and aiming for a mile! The health benefits of open water swimming have been well documented and I can honestly say the benefits are endless - for anyone looking for a burst of energy, thinking time, or exercise it is definitely something to try. #wellbeing, #wildshore, #openwaterswimming, #texerepublishing, #conexiant #zeno, #weinvestinwellbeing

194 miles for February-nearly 48,000 calories burned and 96 hours in the water. On my way to my 1,000 mile swim goal for 2024. Not been easy due to travel but swimming in the ocean in Maui and Waikiki accounted for about 5 miles this month. Swimming in a pool you have lanes, black marks to follow in the bottom of the pool. If you go too far left or right you hit the lane rope nudging you back in line. Similar to working for a company there are rules, processes and yes you are put back in line if you get too far out of the rules. OWS has no lines, no ropes just a point on shore. That’s your goal. Get to that point. You manage your swim with currents, waves, undertow and plenty of fish and other marine life to navigate. A challenge for sure but one you get to navigate. You may veer far right or left but you self correct always keeping your eye on the goal in front of you. How do you like to navigate? What are you doing to keep your eye on the goal, the prize? Enjoy the journey. #OWS #Goals #achievemore #empowerment #swimming #Speedo #Tyr
