It takes collective effort to improve the lives of children; no one man can cause a change all by himself without a support team. Imagine a world where we all work to promote the inclusion of children with special needs. These children will be able to achieve improved life outcomes. It takes you and me to make a difference in their lives. Here are some practical ways you can promote inclusion 📌 Get enlightened and learn about the different types of disabilities faced by children. I'll be sharing more knowledge on this in my next post. 📌 Be kind and speak with grace. In a world with difficulties, be a beacon of joy to them. 📌 Speak up; don't remain silent when you witness a child being stigmatized or discriminated against. 📌 Prioritize understanding how children with special needs communicate rather than imposing how you expect them to communicate. 📌 Volunteer or donate to the cause of the organization working to break barriers faced by children with special needs. 📌 Enlighten people on the importance of mainstream schools; every child, including those with special needs, has an equal right to an inclusive learning environment. How to include students with disabilities!

I’m asking for 3 things. First, some background: I am in ongoing discussions with two non-profits, one with a fairly large lobbying budget, regarding proposed legislation that can improve the process through which children with developmental disabilities obtain in-school accomodations. Here is what I need: 1. If you have been through the IEP process or a due process proceeding, send me some ideas on what changes you would make (in the comments or a private message). Be creative. 2. If you know of proposed bills on these topics, let me know. I’d rather not reinvent the wheel if there are already good bills out there that just need more support. 3. If you have relationships with any FL or federal legislators and are willing to make a call on behalf of these kids, please reach out to me.
