Through projects with Ecologi | B Corp™, we were able to offset our entire 2022 carbon emissions. 🌍 One of the key projects contributing to this achievement is the Macaúbas Landfill Gas Project in Brazil. This initiative focuses on collecting and utilising landfill gas, significantly reducing methane emissions that would otherwise enter the atmosphere. Verified by the Verified Carbon Standard, this project not only highlights our commitment to environmental responsibility but also aligns with three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Together, we are taking meaningful strides in the fight against climate change and fostering a sustainable future. Today, April 22, is the annual World #EarthDay - a reminder of the importance of protecting the environment and an encouragement for us all to come together and take action for a healthier planet for generations to come. Beyond the impact of our products on the energy transition, we are committed to further improving our environmental footprint by increasing energy and water efficiency, embracing biodiversity, and reducing waste wherever we can. Having submitted near-term and net-zero science-based targets to the #SBTi, we continue to acknowledge the importance of identifying and implementing actions as part of the development of our Climate Action Plan. However, #TeamNordex is also involved on a local level: Learn more about our initiatives in Brazil in the image slider below. #TogetherForChange #greenenergy #nxgaroundtheworld #NordexBrazil #NordexGroup

The natural environment has the ability to act as a carbon sink, meaning that it can absorb more carbon than it produces. However, scientists discovered a worrying indication that the Earth’s natural carbon sinks absorbed almost no carbon in 2023, a worrying sign of an environmental collapse. What might be the cause? Resource extraction and processing are responsible for: 🏭 45% of global greenhouse gas emissions 🐸 90% of global biodiversity loss 🚰 90% of global water stress The #EU - as a major consumer - has a significant responsibility in mitigating these impacts. Together with eight civil society and environmental organisations, we are calling for a new EU Directive on Sustainable Resource Management - and you can join us! Efforts have been made to address climate change and biodiversity, but there remains a crucial gap in legislation to address the root cause: resource extraction and use. 🤝 Learn more and join our call: https://lnkd.in/gT_srhFS Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe Association négaWatt European Environmental Bureau European Youth Forum Friends of the Earth Europe RREUSE - Reuse and Recycling European Union Social Enterprises Zero Waste Europe Seas At Risk

KYKLOS wholeheartedly supports the call for an EU Directive on Sustainable Resource Management. Among other things, the call asks that the EU sets a binding EU-wide material footprint target of 5 tonnes per capita by 2050 (compared to 14,9 tonnes in 2022) while pushing for the redistribution of resources and reduction of inequalities. The call is made in the form of a letter to eight European Commissioners, including the president of the EC, and is accompanied by a white paper on sustainable resource management in the EU. Click here to join the call (deadline Mar 20th): https://lnkd.in/gT_srhFS This call has been put forth by 9 reputable organisations doing great work in promoting and supporting the green transformation and environmental protection in Europe and abroad: ECOS Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe Association négaWatt European Environmental Bureau European Youth Forum Friends of the Earth Europe RREUSE - Reuse and Recycling European Union Social Enterprises Zero Waste Europe Seas At Risk

"Too often, environment policies are seen as opposed to those promoting the economy, jobs and industry. But they don’t have to clash," write Euan Ritchie, Catherine Lovelock and Sarah Bekessy in The Conversation. "Calls to fast-track clean energy projects and stop them being held up by environmental approvals are risky. We could tackle one crisis (climate change) by making another worse (biodiversity and extinction). "Australia has destroyed nearly 40% of its forests since European colonisation, with much of the remaining native vegetation highly fragmented. Because this clearing has already happened, it should be entirely possible to build renewables without damaging the homes of native species. In fact, we can do better – we can take degraded farmland, build solar on it and restore low-lying native vegetation around it to actually boost biodiversity. Requiring new renewable projects to be nature positive would encourage creative approaches to delivering infrastructure while benefiting nature.” Text from 'Out of alignment: how clashing policies make for terrible environmental outcomes' Read more at https://buff.ly/3Urkkf8
