🚀A word to AI Startup founders When it comes to risk capital, the word on the street is there is capital assigned to be invested in AI-based startups and a pile of money for everything else. They’re hardly even competing with one another. You have that capital looking for a cozy home on the one side and the founders who want a taste of this gold rush on the other. So, risk capital and large enterprises are now looking to separate the hype from where the real use cases are and see some real commercial AI opportunities being operationalized. And so, if you are on the founding side of the equation, my personal take on this, from what I see and feel, is that your focus should be guided by the following mindset in order to appeal in the 2024 AI/ML landscape. 💡The first is to bring a very specific resolution to a very specific problem you want to punch. Leave the general AI capabilities and the “cool” glitter to big tech. Don’t try to ride a generic wave because you don’t have enough runway to educate the buyers on where and when this will be productionized. 💡The second relates to the 98% of use cases NOT being tackled well enough. It’s not an empirical stat, so you can think of it slightly less if you want. But I am saying that generating efficiencies in internal processes, as an example, is a red ocean. There are so many other spaces to improve.
