I have recently become more and more interested in OKRs and how using this methodology can drive success in a startup... 🎉 ... but you really have to use it. 👊 Here are a few tips: - Don't use project completions as company objectives; they are results. Instead, ask yourself what you are trying to achieve by completing such projects. 🎯 - "You can release many features and products, but if they don't solve a business need, you have achieved nothing." 🙅♂️ Find out what you really need on a large scale and stick to it for at least three months. 🗓️ - Have weekly check-ins with your teams, preferably on Mondays. 🗓️ Do not lose sight of confidence levels in your quarterly KRs. 📈 This can give you room to react and make adjustments. 🛠️ - Not all teams or individuals in an organization can work toward KRs directly. 👥 Some teams can only support those that do. 🤝 Adapt your strategy to provide frictionless communication with those that need to be supported. 🗣️ - Teams and employees are human, and humans need real connections to communicate better and be more effective. 🤝❤️ - One OKR per business model should be hard enough to achieve but not impossible, so don't try to achieve more than one. 🙅♂️ If you do, it probably means they are not difficult enough. 🤔 Query your teams about how confident they feel about achieving those KRs and aim for 50% confidence. 🎯 There is plenty of information online about OKRs, but before applying anything to your workflow, remember that each project and team is different. 💡📝 Have a good cycle! #OKRs #StartupSuccess #GoalSetting #Teamwork #Productivity #BusinessStrategy #Leadership #Collaboration #EffectiveTeams #WorkplaceCulture #Innovation #Motivation

If we create many OKRs, we implicitly inhibit focus. Using OKRs well forces you to choose what not to do. Our OKRs should make our highest priority explicit. They can't do that if we've used OKRs for everything the company does. 🎯 If everything is a priority, nothing is.

In my many chats about 𝑂𝐾𝑅𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒, I've noticed a bunch of questions just keep coming up. So, I thought to myself, why not gather 'em all in one place? Plus, I'll throw in a few things I've learned from my own experiences. If you're into OKRs, setting goals, or just making your team better, it might be worth your while to take a look at what I've put together. You'll find the link below. Great refresher on OKR (Objectives and Key Results) from John Doerr and Daniel McGinn’s conversation, a system standing through the test of time… • Objectives are what we want to have accomplished, are bold and aspirational; Key Results are how we’re going to get it done, are aggressive, but measureable, time-bound, and limited in number • Have only two to five objectives; and three or so key results - This requires rigor to define what really matters • Watch-out: Coupling OKR with bonus / promotion may lead to sandbagging and avoid the risk-taking culture needed PS. OKR works for personal life as well #NutritionForMind https://lnkd.in/gc76D9ev

Just finished "Measure What Matters" by John Doerr and feeling inspired by his take on OKRs (Objectives and Key Results). Clear direction, accountability, innovation, and adaptability are key themes that resonated with me. OKRs truly set the roadmap for success by guiding our objectives and measuring progress transparently. Let's connect and share how OKRs are transforming your organization's goal-setting process! #OKRs #MeasureWhatMatters #Creatingimpact

You should definitely be copying and pasting OKRs. 📋 Preferably from other companies in completely different industries. Just kidding! That's terrible advice. It might seem like a quick and easy shortcut, but it's a bit like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole – it just doesn't work. 👎 Every organization is unique, with its own set of goals, challenges, and priorities. Copying and pasting OKRs from one organization to another ignores the specific context and nuances of each environment, leading to misalignment and inefficiency. That doesn't just go for setting OKRs. It also applies to the inner workings of how the OKR program itself will be launched, maintained and optimized. You can't just take a process that worked for one company and apply it to yours. That's a recipe for disaster. What you need, is a strong process that is tailored to your organization.💪 #StrongProcess #OKRs #OKRImplementation #WaveNine
