This photo, taken yesterday, illustrates the strength with which Buddleja grows through masonry and brickwork. Buddleja, technically a shrub, has an impressive seed output (over 1 million seeds per plant), each seed is light enough to be carried by winds, which land in nooks and cracks of nearby structures and take hold even in the most unlikely places, high on chimney stacks, out of vertical walls, anywhere there’s gaps in concrete, stone or tarmac.
