Lately, I've dedicated my time to assisting individuals in landing entry-level positions in cybersecurity, and I couldn't help but notice a disheartening trend among the job listings. It's baffling to see entry-level security roles, like SOC Analyst positions, demanding an exorbitant level of experience and certifications. For instance, some roles call for certifications such as the CISSP, which mandates five years of security experience, or the CEH, requiring two. Yet, traditionally, a Level One SOC Analyst role is considered the gateway into the field, ideally requiring some IT background and/or pertinent certifications—not the 5+ years of experience alongside entry-level compensation that many listings now seem to expect. Now, it appears you need a time machine to meet these "entry-level" qualifications. This raises a critical question: How are newcomers supposed to break into the field? The conventional pathway involved gaining IT experience while earning certifications until landing a suitable role. However, the current landscape suggests a paradox where experience is a prerequisite for what is supposedly an entry-level position. Cyber NOW® SOC Analyst Jobs report.   The June true entry level SOC analyst jobs have been released on the website. In summary, it looks like the jobs are beginning to pick back up. It worried us there for a little while, but we believe what we saw (lack of jobs) was just a normal ebb and flow of the job market. The authority on statistics suggest that the Information Security Analyst occupation is projected to grow 32% over the next 10 years which is much faster than 0.3% of all jobs. This month we found 30% more true entry level jobs in the time we searched and documented than previous months. We have compiled this month's list of the 31 jobs that we found during our job search as a service to the community and it is available at the website for you to grab the low hanging fruit that applies to you quickly.
