One important step for Volvo and for our customers who wants to pave the road for a more safe and sustainable future.
Breakthrough: Volvo Trucks will launch a long-range version of the Volvo FH Electric with 600 km range. The enabler for the 600 km range is a new driveline technology, the so-called e-axle, which creates space for significantly more battery capacity onboard. More efficient batteries, a further improved battery management system and overall efficiency of the powertrain also contribute to the extended range. “Our new electric flagship will be a great complement to our wide range of electric trucks and enable zero-exhaust emission transport also for the longer distances. It will be a great solution for transport companies with a high annual mileage on their trucks and with a strong commitment to reduce CO2,” says Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks.

Decarbonisation significantly impacts public transport by transitioning from fossil fuel-based systems to zero-emission alternatives. For instance, NewPower UK's collaboration with First Bus to replace diesel engines with electric powertrains in buses is a prime example. This move not only reduces CO₂ emissions but also aligns with broader environmental goals, showcasing a proactive approach towards sustainable public transportation.
It is with great excitement that we can share news of our first order, secured from First Bus, just weeks after our launch by Wrightbus. First Bus collaborated with Wrightbus from the outset of this project providing an initial two vehicles to trial and perfect the technology ahead of the launch of NewPower UK. Following the successful conversion of the first two diesel vehicles, First Bus has now ordered a further 30 buses that will now have their diesel engines replaced with new zero-emission electric powertrains at NewPower’s hi-tech Bicester factory in Oxfordshire. Collectively, when the 32 re-powered Zero Emission Buses enter service, they will eliminate 2,100 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Wrightbus CEO, Jean-Marc Gales, said: “At Wrightbus, we already have a positive relationship with First Bus, having supplied them with numerous zero-emission buses over recent years. That’s why it’s particularly satisfying to receive NewPower’s first order from them” First Bus' Decarbonisation Programme Director, Faizan Ahmad, said: “We are thrilled to place this order for an additional 30 repowered buses and to continue our collaboration with Wrightbus on this exciting project. We’ve partnered with the NewPower team from the outset of this initiative and are proud to be a driving force in the zero-emission space once again with another innovative solution.” We are very excited about this first major order, our factory in Bicester is busy and we look forward to continuing to offer this decarbonisation solution to many more operators across the UK. Did you know that converting older vehicles to electric can significantly reduce carbon emissions? ⚡ For example, a Volvo V70 produces approximately 3,220 kg of carbon dioxide annually. Through electric conversion, these direct emissions can potentially drop to zero. Consider this: in Sweden, there are about 270,000 Volvo V70s. If even half of these were converted to electric, it could decrease Swedish carbon emissions by 435 million kilograms each year. 💫 Check out this article from Altinget, exploring the potential impact of electric conversions on Swedish carbon emissions: https://lnkd.in/d9knCEvC Daniel Forsberg Share your thoughts on the electrification of vehicles in the comments below! 👇 #CTEK #CTEKCharging #ElectricVehicles #Sustainability #EV

About 21 percent of the CO2 emitted worldwide comes from the transport sector, the lion's share of it from the transport of goods by road. Within its broad and innovative product portfolio, ZF offers different solutions for the decarbonization of road transportation. For example, ZF’s new e-mobility platform. It consists of different e-motors, corresponding inverters, a three-speed transmission as well as its associated electrical components. From last-mile delivery vehicles to 44-ton trucks, the kit meets a wide range of requirements. The versatility of this e-mobility kit allows ZF’s next generation driveline technologies to be applied and developed in various ways, supporting the transformation of Commercial Vehicles towards zero emissions transportation. ZF’s electrified trailer concept TrailTrax is extremely effective and versatile. This innovative system integrates the AxTrax 2 electric drive axle and a modular battery system with the trailer EBS. Together, these components help to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 16 percent through recuperation and propulsion; with up to 40 percent CO2 reductions achieved by Plug-In charging. ZF further underlined its status as Europe’s leading producer of electric drives after securing a long-term supplier agreement with Ford Trucks for e-mobility technologies recently. Ford Trucks commissioned ZF to supply its latest generation of electric drives for its upcoming line of electrified trucks, the heavy duty Electric Rigid Truck. The first product to be supplied by ZF will be its central electric drive, the CeTrax 2 dual. The compact and modular design of ZF’s CeTrax 2 series enables the drives to fit within the same mounting space as a conventional ICE transmission. ZF and Chinese manufacturer Foton also have strengthened their partnership by introducing new hybrid drive systems for commercial vehicles in China to support decarbonization. Building on the success of their joint venture that was setup to deliver the TraXon automatic transmission and electric drives in China, ZF and Foton have now agreed for the joint venture to introduce ZF’s new hybrid transmission TraXon 2 Hybrid for commercial vehicles to the Chinese market.
