Feeling stuck in your career? You are not alone. 65% of the 3,400 professionals surveyed by Glassdoor last month said they feel stuck in their current role. That they cannot make traction. That they are in the same job doing the same role with nothing to show for it. No ability to advance. No ability to expand. That leads to job decay and ultimately a decline in performance that will lead unfortunately to involuntary separation. Professionals need to expand their networks and circles. They need to work through companies like ExecThread to find unique job opportunities that might not be found anywhere else. Get in touch with headhunters in your industry, not just generically. And make sure above all else that you properly assess your value proposition so that you are ready to negotiate effectively. The opportunities are out there and 2025 already promises to be a better year as hiring is beginning to open up post election!

Excellent takeaway from NAV on the Great Frustration. As the greatest capital asset of all businesses, employees need to develop and expand in their roles. To feel important, challenged and capable of future growth and development for the organizations they serve and support. Employers take note. This is going to be a significant issue for the workforce in 2025.

As your recruiter, I'll ask about any gaps in your work history and why you left previous jobs. I'm not judging you; I just want to understand your story. This info helps me tell your career journey to the hiring manager. Whether you were laid off, took care of family, traveled, or left a bad job, it's okay. But if you don't tell me, people might assume things, and that's not good. So be ready to share these details with me—it'll help us represent you better to potential employers.

Here's how I helped her: 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐦𝐩 : We transformed her resume into an ATS-friendly document that showcased her strengths in a way that hiring managers couldn't ignore. 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 : I worked on her LinkedIn profile, making it stand out to recruiters. We added strategic keywords, optimized her headline, and created a compelling summary. 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 : I shared insights on how to network effectively and guided her through the process of reaching out for referrals. Within weeks, she landed a role paying 50k per month. Judging from the jobs posted, there are many opportunities. Based off the requirements, I am not qualified for most. Given the opportunity to one of the jobs that I don’t have qualifications for, I most likely have relatable experience. Open to work tag doesn’t seem to attract hiring managers/companies. LinkedIn is to provide employers and candidates a chance to connect through networking, yet it only works if you qualify (or in some cases, know someone). Give candidates a chance and remove the algorithm. Look through their resume, profile, etc. and be human if you want a human to work for you.

Feeling overwhelmed during a job search is completely normal and you’re not alone in this. It’s okay to feel frustrated or uncertain at times. But in moments like these, focusing on what’s within your control can make all the difference. Try setting small, achievable daily goals: ✔ Apply to 4 jobs ✔ Connect with 10 recruiters ✔ Submit your resume to 3 staffing firms ✔ Update your LinkedIn. These steps might feel small, but they add up and keep you moving forward. Most importantly, surround yourself with people who lift you up. Lean on those who believe in you, see your potential, and remind you of your worth. With the right support, you’re not just surviving this process, you’re building your next chapter. Keep showing up for yourself. You’re stronger than you think, and your breakthrough might be closer than you realize. 💪✨ #jobhunt #lookingforajob #youarestrong #rememberwhoyouare #staffingfirms #support

Don’t Wait for the New Year – Start Your Job Search Now! Why wait for January when your dream job could be just around the corner? Here’s why starting your search now could set you apart: 1️⃣ Less Competition: Many people put their job hunt on hold in December, so you’ll have fewer applicants to compete against, making it easier to stand out. 2️⃣ End-of-Year Budgets: Companies often use leftover budgets to fill critical roles before the year ends. These "hidden gems" won’t be there in January. 3️⃣ Faster Responses: With fewer applicants, hiring managers and recruiters have more time to review CVs and hold meaningful conversations. 4️⃣ Last-Minute Openings: Many employees resign at year-end, creating sudden opportunities that need filling ASAP. 5️⃣ Show Your Tenacity: Applying now highlights your determination and proactive mindset - qualities employers value in candidates. Don't wait for the January rush - take advantage of this golden window to make your next career move today! Ready to explore opportunities? Let’s connect and make it happen!

We often get asked the question: "What is the market like at present?" This is a screenshot, taken this morning, of a 'behind the scenes' part of LinkedIn that only those who post roles get to see. The interesting thing here is the number of applicants, being 1,209 people over a period of 8 weeks. This is the highest number of applicants I have seen for some time. To me, this could mean one of two things: (A) Our reach as a firm has grown over the years, meaning more people are seeing our roles and therefore applying for them (B) There are a lot of people out there looking for roles, for whatever reason is right for them as an individual I think the correct overriding answer here is (B), and this will continue to be the case until we see consistent positive hiring intent from companies. This is lacking at present but we get a sense this will come once this EOFY is done and we enter the second half of the calendar year. So, what is the market like are present? Soft is the simple answer.

In 2017 my career seemed over before it began. 0 job prospects despite my efforts. But then in 2019... I was building my career by command: → Systematically landing interviews → Was getting offers for work I loved doing → Pivoted in my career 5X (w/o starting over) So what changed in just 2 short years? Soul searching > Job searching More specifically: - Understanding what my 'Dream Life' looks like - Knowing what my core strengths/skills were - Doubling down on what I love + good at - Got clear on what roles fit the bill - Targeted those roles specifically - 5% applying / 95% relationships - Followed the data - HIRED This happened to me across roles: → Talent Acquisition Leader → Operations Leader → Sales Leader And within different industries: → Tech → Agency → Real Estate And it worked every time. Remember: You don't have an experience problem. Your job search just lacks focus. P.S. I'm hosting a free LinkedIn Live event this Wednesday to break down my D.R.E.A.M framework that I used to never worry about where my next job would come from. Link in the first comment.
