Skilled #hackers of Armed Forces of Ukraine running a cyberoperation against Russian critical infrastructure: While not of direct military value, it is clear that the psychological (and possibly economic) effect will be very beneficial to Ukraine’s defence. Every such operation makes the war (aka „3 day special military operation that is going according to plan“) more uncomfortable for Russia and the idea of peace negotiations more attractive. Not having access to detail information I’d still wager that those aren’t easy targets that are successfully penetrated. Note: Despite the title of the linked article focusing on ATMs, also telco, ISP and social networks are successfully targeted. Maybe something to keep in mind when looking at IT-security worldwide. „Wooden abacuses … and cave paintings.“ 😁 #ukrainewar #CNO #redteaming

This week, The House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce introduced H.R. 7520, the Protecting Americans’ Data from Foreign Adversaries Act, which would prohibit data brokers from selling the sensitive data of American citizens to foreign adversaries or entities controlled by foreign adversaries. While this bill specifically mentions the data of US military service members and children, it has implications for anyone in the business of handling client or audience data. Besides promoting data privacy, this bill would also allow the Federal Trade Commission to seek civil penalties of more than $50,000 for every violation by data brokers.
