Google Shopping has a new look! 🛍️ Here’s what it could mean for creators. When I noticed the new page over the weekend, my first instinct was to check if videos had gained a spot in the feed. After bringing shoppable videos to the app feed at Klarna—and being a big believer in this space—I was curious to see how Google would incorporate videos into the shopping experience. I didn’t spot videos in the main feed. However, after researching the update, I came across some assets showcasing video placements. So, could it be coming soon? 👀 For now, I'm seeing featured videos when clicking on certain products, especially in beauty. This could be a great way for creators to boost their reach and drive affiliate sales! 🤑 How are these videos featured? I'm not quite sure. My first thought was that it might prioritize sponsored content, affiliate links, or engagement. However, I’m seeing a mix of factors, and these videos are being pulled from different platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and even Amazon. I'm noticing that YouTube Shopping is investing more in its affiliate program (🎉), so my prediction is that there might be a chance Google will choose to prioritize videos from YouTube creators in their program to drive more affiliate sales. Let's see how it unfolds! ✨
Sounds exciting! It’s clear that every platform is gearing up to capture the momentum in creator commerce. How they balance a seamless and fairly incentivized experience across brands, creators, and consumers will ultimately be the deciding factor for success
This is huge — excited to see how it all plays out, Natalia
