❓ 🌍 Which SDG predicts a nation’s success? The answer might surprise you! SDG9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure is "the winner" of the SDGs! Why? read below... A few days ago, I presented my research on how EU cities are extremely motivated by economic success at the expense of environmental goals. Now, we look at all 167 countries with available SDG results for 2024. Here the situation is seemingly a bit more promising, with less difference between countries' economic and sustainable progress. However, the economic drivers are still undoubtedly greater than the environmental ones. But neither of those is a predictor of countries' success with the SDG's - meaning that both countries with high and low SDG scores can have more or less the same environmental progress. So what is then the game changer? It is, without a doubt the technical dimension; SDG9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities. 🚀 Did you know RENOLUTION Alliance is there to prepare the ground for the arrival of the 2025 renovation obligations for the Brussels Capital Region. 🎯 Key objectives of this Alliance: - Carbon neutrality by 2050 - Public/private Alliance - Reduction of 47% of CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2005 - Creating more than 8,000 jobs 🔑 Key facts: • The number of homes renovated annually from 2019 onwards was doubled • A clear legal framework for the renovation of energy flats – CoBraCE was adopted • The greenhouse gas emissions from buildings between 2005 and 2024 was reduced by 37% • Circular economy circular principles in construction and renovation, with exemplary reuse and recycling projects, are integrated • Support schemes, financing solutions, and professional training to support the energy transition are developed • The installed photovoltaic capacity has been doubled in 5 years time 🤝 To pursue all these objectives, more than 300 people from 150 public, private and voluntary organisations met together in 11 workshops to launch more than 150 projects with major breakthroughs. 📜 Our forward thinking colleagues are involved in the: - Facilitation of the general coordination and the strategic committee: Directors-General of the administrations and Cabinets - Facilitation of the thematic workshops: Regulation, Primes, Financing, Support of Supply and Demand, Circular Economy, Logistics, RENOLAB call for projects, Communication, Training and Employment, Urban Planning and Heritage, Urban Renewal, Technical Committee) - General coordination of the consortium of facilitators - Annual Alliance Event 🔎 Discover the tri-annual report summarising the progress of our work and recommendations here: https://lnkd.in/eqS_XJsG 👉 Let us build on these encouraging initial results to accelerate our action and overcome the scale of the challenges by consolidating the Alliance through supportive measures by the next government.
