It’s great to see the #StartupMonitor2024 highlighting key trends in our ecosystem! One insight that caught our attention: 54.4% of startups now prefer public funding as their top capital source. This underscores how crucial public funding has become, especially for early-stage startups. Back in 2018, #BITKOM reported that 66% of startups avoided public funding due to heavy administrative burdens, complex processes, and extensive paperwork. While public funding is now highly preferred, many startups still face these same challenges. Have things changed since 2018? Or do the same obstacles still stand in your way?

Over the past few months, we’ve been thrilled by the incredible number of startups that applied to join the Birdhouse 12-week program. Earlier last month, 49 of these startups had the opportunity to pitch live to our expert jury: 28 startups in the Tech vertical for Belgium and 21 in the AgeTech vertical for Europe.  Each vertical had its own tailored jury to provide the best possible feedback and insights! Some key highlights from our selection process: 41% of the participating startups had female founder(s), showcasing strong and growing diversity in the founder landscape! PLDT Enterprise, it was such an honor to be a part of the top 10 startups!
