Hello, folks. Once again, I had the pleasure of being the Sound Editor for this week's edition of the Redditch and Bromsgrove Talking Newspaper so please take a look see and listen to our excellent production which is the output of about thirty peoples work! Yes, it's a team effort to produce it on a weekly basis. Here is the link to the Newspaper - https://lnkd.in/esuBV_cK I had an interesting experience last week as I was invited to join a Virtual Dementia Experience by Home Instead, a care at home provider. It felt like being on another planet as your vision was distorted and shaded red, there were random bangs and crashes whilst someone was talking in one ear and someone else was talking in the other ear and the conversations stopped and started randomly. You were fitted with thick gloves so dexterity was absent and you had nail plates in your footwear to simulate peripheral neuropathy and then given 3 tasks to complete but you couldn't hear the instructions clearly and there were missing words on the instruction sheet so it was very difficult to complete any of the tasks. And then items kept moving or disappearing to make the process very very confusing, all in all a very realistic simulation of what it feels like to be suffering from late stage dementia. The followup was a very educational video which explained how to approach and how to treat people with dementia including what steps to take to improve their experience of life. I will expand upon these techniques in a later post so until then, take care and best wishes from me! #TheHappyPessimist #blind #partiallysighted #limitedvision #sightloss #redditchandbromsgrovetalkingnewspaper
Complimented by a clever quiz surrounding the season of Harvest Festivals and Fairs, and another talk by Philip Bowen on the 1960s; your Talking Newspaper this week brings you a host of local stories plus information on extensions to the Worcestershire On Demand bus service.
