We should change ourselves instead of trying to change the environment. This is how everything evolve: through getting adapted. Companies have no spare money to hire someone with no use. If a candidate brings them value, they'll hire her. The students should find internships to find connections. Otherwise they will not get an entry level job.

It is heartbreaking and discouraging to get denied from entry-level jobs after spending four years in a classroom preparing for the professional world. As a recent graduate, my job search journey has been filled with stress. Within less than a month of searching for jobs, I've encountered various challenges. I've been ghosted by an interviewer who repeatedly assured me I was a good fit for the job, interviewed for a position where the company only considered internal candidates, rejected from jobs I have ample experience for without even getting an interview, and even promised an in-person interview only to be ghosted for three weeks before receiving a generic rejection. As Serena Tinsley pointed out, is this how we should introduce new graduates to the professional world? It's frustrating to see that now everyone demands experience, whereas before starting college, many places would accept a bachelor's degree in place of experience. How are we supposed to gain entry-level experience if there are no opportunities available?

It’s frustrating that companies often expect graduates to have years of experience for entry-level positions. Many students are already juggling part-time jobs to cover living expenses while studying. How are they supposed to gain this experience? This issue definitely deserves more attention, especially since many graduates struggle to find jobs in their fields after investing significant sums in their education. I welcome an honest discussion on this issue.

The Catch-22 of entry-level hiring: How can fresh graduates gain experience when many internships and jobs require 2+ years of experience? It's a vicious cycle - you need experience to get hired, but you need to get hired to gain experience! It will be great if there can be a more inclusive and supportive pathways for new graduates to enter the workforce.
