PHOSPHORILATION CAN IMPROVE STABILITY AND REDUCE TOXICITY OF ANTIMICROBIAL PEPTIDES (AMPs). A series of peptides and their corresponding phosphorylated forms were synthesized. In 2012, bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane (BCP) was demonstrated to mimic the para-substituted benzene ring in a biologically active compound. Since then, BCPs have been playing an important role in chemistry. This paper reports a general scalable reaction between alkyl iodides and propellane that provides bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane iodides in milligram, gram and even kilogram quantities.
