Today the US Plastics Pact released its Roadmap 2.0 — an ambitious strategic plan to drive the transition to a circular economy for plastics in the United States. Congrats to all Activators and Technical Affiliates involved. Roadmap 2.0 focuses on reusing, recycling, composting, and designing plastics that stay within the economy and out of the environment. It begins where Roadmap to 2025 ends, carrying forward Targets, Outcomes, and Deliverables not yet fully achieved, pushing further those that have been successful, and implementing new, necessary objectives born from what was learned during the original strategic plan. A few of the accomplishments of the Roadmap to 2025 are: — Reduced Problematic & Unnecessary Materials from 14% to 8% — Increased reusable, recyclable, or compostable plastic packaging from 37% to 47.7% — Expanded U.S. Pact from 62 to over 135 engaged Activators — Developed a PCR Procurement Toolkit, PCR Certification Principles, and Design for Circularity Playbook Publishing Roadmap 2.0 at 18 months before it is implemented in January 2026 allows Activators adequate time to internally coordinate and align for the new strategic plan. 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. To tackle single-use plastic packaging issues, transforming single-use into multi-use packaging stands as the best solution, while recycling and other methods follow. #Biodegradable plastics like #PLA or #PHA are promising but often fail due to poor gas barrier properties, leading to quicker product drying. The problem isn’t the material itself, but the unrealistic expectation of holding biodegradable plastics to the same standard as fossil plastics Like canned goods and plastic foods with different expiration dates, we need to adopt new perspectives and tolerances for #sustainable alternatives, even if they cause minor inconveniences. It’s time to change the standards and embrace sustainable progress. Document link: https://lnkd.in/gJ2DfW5h

**Revolutionizing Plastic Recycling: A Game Changer for Sustainability** A groundbreaking innovation from UC Berkeley is setting the stage for a sustainable future by transforming how we recycle plastics. This new process vaporizes hard-to-recycle polyethylene and polypropylene plastics, such as plastic bags and bottles, into reusable building blocks for creating new plastics. This development could be pivotal in establishing a sustainable, circular economy and reducing the vast amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills and oceans. This innovative recycling breakthrough not only offers a solution to global plastic waste issues but also holds the potential to redefine manufacturing processes. By converting plastics into base compounds that can be used and reused indefinitely, industries can significantly cut down on producing virgin plastics, reducing environmental impact and fostering a greener future. Could this technology be the key to achieving a truly circular economy in the plastics industry? Share your thoughts below. #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #PlasticRecycling #Innovation #EnvironmentalImpact #GreenTechnology

🌱 At a time when environmental awareness has become inescapable, companies that choose to use #ecofriendly materials not only reflect a strong commitment to protecting the planet and complying with ever more stringent eco regulations, but also demonstrate a focus on the needs of a marketplace that is increasingly judging the impact of products. It’s an approach that not only helps reduce pollution and the overuse of natural resources, but in my experience often leads to innovations in the manufacturing process that result in greater efficiency and lower costs in the long run. At Plastics Srl, we’ve embraced this philosophy for some time now by implementing the use of environmentally friendly materials in our manufacturing and #packaging processes. It’s a decision that will allow us to significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste and thus promote the establishment of a circular economy, in the firm belief that the companies of the future will be those that take concrete steps today to ensure a greener and more sustainable tomorrow. #plastics #molding #plastic #sustainability
