🚀 Empowering Athletes Beyond the Game: The Case for Dual Career Pathways 🏅 The world of sports is filled with triumphs, challenges, and uncertainties. While talent and dedication may pave the way to greatness, the reality is that every athlete must consider life beyond the game. This is why dual career pathways are not just a luxury—they’re a necessity. Athletes face intense demands both on and off the field. Injuries, career shifts, or the natural end of a sports career can often leave them uncertain about their next steps. But with proper education, skill-building, and entrepreneurial training, they can be equipped to thrive in any field, long after their playing days are over. At Motiva Sports, we are addressing this critical need through our initiative: Footprints to Greatness. This program is designed to: ✅ Empower athletes with tools for professional development. ✅ Offer mentorship programs in education, business, and media. ✅ Provide pathways for financial independence during and after their sports careers. Dual career pathways ensure that athletes are not defined solely by their physical performance but by their ability to adapt, grow, and leave lasting legacies in multiple fields. Through Footprints to Greatness, we aim to create holistic success stories, inspiring athletes to balance their sports journey with parallel career aspirations. 🌟 Let’s champion a new narrative where athletes excel both on and off the field. Together, we can build a future where their potential is limitless. #MotivaSports #FootprintsToGreatness #DualCareers #AthleteEmpowerment #SportsManagement #LifeBeyondSports

Navigating life after college as a Division 1 athlete has been a journey filled with highs and lows, but one that has ultimately led to profound growth and self-discovery. 🏅 Transitioning from the structured, goal-oriented world of collegiate sports to the vast, often ambiguous landscape of post-collegiate life has been a challenge. The dedication, discipline, and resilience honed on the field have undoubtedly been assets, but finding a new sense of purpose has required introspection and adaptability. Athletics taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and setting ambitious goals. However, the real world doesn't come with a playbook. There’s no coach providing constant guidance or teammates working towards a common objective. This shift has compelled me to redefine success on my own terms and to seek out new passions and opportunities. Embracing this uncertainty has been crucial. I've learned to leverage my athletic mindset to tackle new professional challenges, network with diverse individuals, and continuously push my boundaries. Whether it's through new career ventures, further education, or personal development, the journey to finding one's purpose is ongoing and ever-evolving. To fellow athletes making this transition: Lean on the qualities that made you successful in sports. Your dedication, work ethic, and resilience are powerful tools in any arena. Don’t be afraid to seek guidance, explore new paths, and most importantly, be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, and every step is part of the process. Grateful for the journey and excited for what lies ahead. Let's connect and support each other in this transition from athletes to professionals. #LifeAfterSports #AthleteMindset #CareerTransition #FindingPurpose #D1Athlete

🏃🏻♂️Leveraging Athletic Experience🏃🏻♂️ Being an athlete you acquire skills that not only help you on the field or the court but also help you as an employee. Here are 4 skills that I have gained throughout my athletic career that will transfer into my professional career! 1. Handling Adversity🌦️ Being an athlete you have the highs but most importantly you have the lows. While winning is fun it is important to face the losses and the injuries and come back better prepared for whatever comes your way. These experiences show employers that you can overcome whatever challenges that are in your way and find success. 2. Collaboration Skills👥 Being on a team you are actively working with your teammates striving to achieve a common goal, WINNING. When you start at a company you need to be able to work together with you coworkers for the success of a campaign or a new product launch. 3. Time Management⏳ As a student-athlete your life is scheduled around your sport. Having to manage practice lifts, and meetings is just the tip of it. Underneath all of that you are attending classes, writing papers, and finding time for yourself. This is a balancing act that forces you to prioritize tasks, plan ahead, and maximize productivity. 4. Being a Natural Competitor🏆 Competing for the starting spot or competing for the win athletics has formed you as a competitor. Much like the office your teams ability to win is determined by how your team matches up with you competitors and that is based on how well you've prepared and the work you've put in. Have you had any athletic experiences that have translated into your career? #PassionToPurpose #MCBSMMFall24 #StudentAthlete

Absolutely! The idea of always giving your best effort is about being prepared for whatever life throws at you and making the most of every opportunity. Here are a few examples to illustrate this point: 1. **Career Growth Imagine an employee who consistently gives their 100% in every task, no matter how big or small. Even when working on less glamorous projects, they put in their best effort, learn new skills, and demonstrate a strong work ethic. One day, a senior position opens up unexpectedly, and the management, having noticed this person's dedication, offers them the promotion. If they hadn't been giving their all, they might have missed this opportunity. HardWorkPaysOff #CareerSuccess #AlwaysBeReady ### 2. **Sports and Competition** Think of a backup player on a sports team who always trains hard, even though they don’t often get a chance to play in games. One day, a key player gets injured, and the coach calls on the backup player to step in. Because they've been giving 100% in every practice session, they're ready to perform and end up becoming the star of the game. If they had slacked off, they wouldn’t have been prepared when the opportunity arose. StayPrepared #PracticeMakesPerfect #GameChanger ### 3. **Academic Opportunities** A student who always studies diligently, even for smaller quizzes and assignments, builds a solid foundation of knowledge. When a highly competitive scholarship or award becomes available, they are more likely to excel because they've consistently given their best effort. Their consistent preparation makes them stand out among their peers. ConsistencyIsKey #AcademicExcellence #BePrepared

Reflecting on my time as a collegiate soccer player at Colorado Christian University, I’ve learned invaluable lessons that have shaped who I am today. Transitioning from a college athlete to seeking full-time employment has inspired me to share the traits, skills, and experiences I’ve gained over the past four years. In this post, the first of a series, I’ll explore how I expect these lessons to translate into success in the business world, starting with one of the most important traits: keeping a competitive edge. Post 1: Keeping the Competitive Edge Arguably the most important trait an athlete possesses is their competitive nature. How badly do you want to win? What will you do to ensure success? These questions often determine a player’s impact on the field and their team’s overall performance. Similarly, this competitive drive translates directly to the workplace, where a relentless pursuit of excellence can set employees apart. Competition also plays a critical role in fostering teamwork. Many of my motivations as a player stemmed from a desire to be my team’s most valuable asset-not from entitlement but from a personal commitment to being my best. This drive wasn’t about seeking recognition, it was about working tirelessly to contribute at the highest level. As an aspiring professional, I bring this same competitive mindset to the workplace. I aim to be the best employee not because I expect success, but because I’m willing to work for it. College athletics taught me that utilizing a competitive mindset to strive for excellence in every aspect of life yields meaningful results. #collegeathletics #competition #collegegraduate #athletics #collegebusiness #businessadministration #athletetoemployee #employee #colorado #soccer

As a former high-performing athlete, I understand firsthand the challenges that come with transitioning out of sports. That's why I love working with former athletes and helping them navigate this journey. Key lessons I learned personally from my transition out of athletics… ✨ It’s okay to retire early or shift gears for the sake of your body, mind, spirit, and energy - even if the opportunity is still there and your identity is rooted in that environment ✨Athletics teach skills that are just as valuable outside of sports same with interests outside of work - teamwork, consistency, hyper-focus, discipline, practice, communication, seeking critical feedback, coachability, independent learning; geared towards repetition, performance, curiosity, and insatiable perfectionism ✨Grieving is a part of this transition— this identity was major part of who you are— finding an outlet for that energy to go can be incredibly empowering— it can also help with boundaries in your next role ✨Winning was never the focus; the focus was always to evolve and improve, and there's always a next play. Remember, mindset matters, so keep playing Transitioning out of sports and into a new career can be tricky, but finding your next passion or challenge is possible. The skills you learned as an athlete are transferable and valuable in any field. So don't be afraid to explore new opportunities and embrace the next chapter of your life. Coaching helps by recognizing where you are at now, validating what role athletics played in your life, identifying challenges you may still need to overcome in order to get where you want to be and actions to get there. Ready to get chatting— comment 🏐 and I’ll shoot you a message. Comment if you have lessons to add about jumping from athletics to the career world. And enjoy this ridiculously incredible photo of baby Jen…why? Because I rox and #yourox too. #formerathletes #formerathlete #transitions #careerchange #careertransitions #careercoach #energycoaching #mindsetcoaching #transferrableskills #findacoach #coachforformerathletes #coachingforwomen #lifecoach #lessons #pastathlete #authenticitycoach #authenticleadership #energyleadership
