One of the first questions I ask clients is what is the purpose of your website? Most will say: “I want it as an information hub” “Somewhere to send prospects to if they want to find out more” “A place to go to learn more about my business” And whilst these are great goals, is that really what you want your website to do for you? What if you were more specific? For example: ➡ I need people to sign up for my email list so I have more leads to work with. ➡ I need to sell more through my website and make it easier for customers to pay. ➡ I need to get more regular readers coming back to my site. ➡ I need people to stay on my site for longer, so Google will recognise me as a credible expert. ➡ I need more customers to call a number, use a form, send an email, book a call, or contact me. Sure, these may not be SMART, as in Measureable and Time Specific. But they are directional in terms of what you really want your business to do for you. These goals will help define your website.
