It is indenianle that discrimination and stereotype are always there. However, when it comes to hiring, personality and perfessionlism shall be the first 2 priorities. It is unbelievable that a HR practitioner provided line managers discriminated and judgmental comments of candidates whom the HR never talked to. “People from certain region are tough and not likely to obey rules” “All the entities of the industry in this city do not hire people from certain region.” Reminds me the caste system and Burakumin. Seriously? As HR professions, think before talking. Avoid yourself becoming a laughing stock.

It has come to my attention that some individuals may be using overly flattering language and misrepresenting information to their HR representatives in order to get hired. I want to highlight the importance of honesty and transparency in the recruitment process. While it may be tempting to present oneself in the most positive light, intentionally deceiving HR can lead to a toxic work environment and damage trust among colleagues. Let's focus on building genuine relationships and showcasing our skills and qualifications in a truthful and authentic manner. Dear HR’s, We are sending you our resumes with complete details and after proper screening we are welcomed for the interview. Please do not insult the candidates by asking the same question why did you leave this company that company again and again. In fact asking about the company and the role would be of great help for you to know more about the candidate. Make strong HR policies in your company so that the employees stay and you don’t have to doubt on candidates that they might also leave. Involvement of POSH Act would definitely make female staffs safer and you can have their commitment for longer period. At last females have lot of personal problems which cannot be put in the resume so if there is a gap that means lot of other things happening in their life better go for male candidates if you are not satisfied at once you see the CV’s. For us working women, work life balance and safety is must in all over the world mark my words. Thankyou..

I do not want people to just jump and agree with me when I speak. I want people to challenge me, but a career development professional who is a woman of color told me that there aren't biases/discrimination in every industry. It is people like these we have to push out of HR and the career development industry. Awareness is for everyone. You could be white, black, pink, or purple your skills are your skills, and can you get the job done. In a nutshell, there should be equality for everyone. Lately, I've seen too many posts targeting HR, even stereotyping women in HR by calling them "baji"—an Urdu term for elder sister—in a sarcastic tone, despite the fact that many men also work in HR. It’s disheartening to see a field that’s crucial to company culture dismissed so easily, especially in posts from senior professionals (including some CEOs) who should understand both HR’s responsibilities and its limitations. What people often miss is that HR is typically the face of decisions —especially in smaller or family-owned (“sethiya”) companies. We communicate these decisions, but we don’t always make them. And as for the criticism that HR serves the company’s interests first, isn’t that true for every department? Yes, HR has its shortcomings, and there’s always room for improvement. But if we truly want to elevate workplace standards, constructive feedback and respect will drive change much more effectively than belittling posts ever could. 🤔 HR conversations: Are they as private as you think? I’ve seen a lot of posts suggesting that you can’t trust HR because they’ll spill all your secrets to your manager. As an HR professional who values confidentiality and respect, I want to address this misconception. 🙅♀️🔒 HOWEVER, I think this probably came from someone getting burned by a bad HR professional (yes, those do exist). So, here’s my advice for all employees, whether or not you work with a good or bad HR employee: 1🔑 Share Relevant Information: You don’t have to divulge all aspects of your personal life to your HR professional. You might feel they need to know certain things, but it’s safest to keep sensitive personal details to yourself. HR should, and often does, keep information confidential, but the more you share, the more you open yourself up to potential risks.  🗣️ Don’t “Vent” to HR About Your Manager/Lead/Owner: While it’s okay to express your feelings, try not to vent to HR in a highly emotional or reactive state. Instead, take time to process your situation and present facts when you’re ready. Clearly articulate the outcome you want to see. This approach is more productive and helps HR understand the issue in a structured manner. 🚫 Don’t Gossip to HR: A good HR professional will steer clear of gossip and focus on factual, actionable information. Gossip can create confusion and undermine effective resolution. By avoiding gossip, you ensure that HR can address issues based on facts and not hearsay. There’s a balance to what you should share with your HR team member. The tips above offer clarity on how to navigate these conversations and make informed decisions about what to disclose.
