People talk about "Networking" like a to-do list but it's not. It’s about building genuine relationships. After landing a job in Dubai, I made sure to send thank-you emails and messages to everyone who referred me. It wasn’t just a thank you—it was about maintaining those long-term relationships. If you want to have a great network and strong connection, all you need to do is this: 1. Reach out because you want to. If someone crosses your mind, send an email, Facetime them, send a text or drop off some donuts. They might not respond but they will always remember. 2. Give back once a month Find someone who's one or two steps behind where you are and just have a conversation with them. Help them move a little faster by sharing your wisdom. 3. Connect 2 people in your network to each other once a quarter Introduce two people in your network who you think would benefit from knowing each other. They’ll remember and value the connection. Amidst the chaos of grief and travel, I realised something profound: I was living in the hope that my partner would change, that our relationship would magically evolve into the deeply fulfilling connection I craved. But as I lay feverish and shivering under layers of coats, I had a moment of clarity. The change needed to start with me. Back home in Australia, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. I let go of the unrealistic expectation that my partner could make me happy and took ownership of my fulfillment. It wasn't easy. It required facing uncomfortable truths, speaking up with honesty and integrity, and embracing my reality. Today, I stand in a place of strength and resilience. I've learned to trust my intuition, communicate with confidence, and cultivate a deeply fulfilling relationship with myself. And this transformation has rippled out into all aspects of my life, including the clients I work with. So, I challenge you: Where in your life are you yearning for change? I’ve Rejoined BNI (Business Network International) —And I’m Proud of It! 😱 If you’d told me a year ago that I’d rejoin BNI, I probably would have laughed. But here I am, eating my words—and surprisingly, I’m proud of it! A bit of background: I was a founding member of an online BNI group. While online meetings work brilliantly for many, I thrive on face-to-face connection. As someone who works from a home office, and is introverted albeit appears extroverted 🤯 I sometimes struggle to get out of the house and meet new people. So, when I left the group, I genuinely thought, “That’s it for me and BNI!” Fast forward to now. Enter Clyde Jordaan who reached out to ask if I’d consider returning. My first thought? Absolutely not. But I’m also someone who’s (sometimes foolishly) drawn to stepping out of her comfort zone. I told Clyde I’d think about it—but only if it was an in-person group. Last week, I visited the BNI Ignite Northampton chapter. From the moment I walked in, I felt the warmth of a group of people who are absolutely my kind of people. I made the decision on the spot: This is where I belong. Today, I officially joined, and I couldn’t be happier. A huge thank you to everyone at Ignite for making me feel so welcome—and to Clyde Jordaan and Duncan Webster ARPS for being instrumental in my return. I’m genuinely excited to be part of this chapter and to call myself a BNI member once again. Here are a few personal principles that guided me through this decision: 🤩 Never say never. Rules you make for yourself now might not serve your future self. Life changes, and being flexible opens doors to opportunities you might otherwise miss. 🤩 It’s all about the people. Finding the right people—those who truly resonate with you—can make all the difference. 🤩 Keep it simple and fun. If it feels too hard or too serious, it’s not for me. Life’s too short for unnecessary complications. Here’s to new beginnings, pushing boundaries, and surrounding yourself with the right people. Like any career, mine has had its highs and lows—hitting brick walls, facing setbacks, and having to rise again. Each fall made me stronger, wiser, and more determined to keep moving forward. As an employee, I always gave my best and was well-compensated for it. Last year this time, I felt like everything was falling apart I moved to Dubai in April 2023, a completely new place for me. No job. No connections. Just hope and ambition. But reality hit me hard within just a few months. Every day was a struggle for 5 months: Morning to evening: desperately job hunting. Evenings to late nights: Working on my coaching biz. But nothing seemed to work. Not landing a job. No consistent income from biz. I was facing the worst phase of my life. - I cried alone many times. - I felt lost & lonely many times. - I dealt with worse stress & anxiety. I questioned everything - my choices, my abilities, even my decision to move here. The weight of family expectations crushed me. But then, in August 2023, something shifted. I realized I was trying to do too much, spreading myself too thin. It was time to make a bold decision. I had made up my mind – I didn't come here just to turn back. I had two options: 1. Keep job hunting and give up on my business. 2. Go all-in on my coaching and forget the job search. It was scary, but I chose the second option. I put everything else aside & just focused all my energy on getting coaching clients. And then, like magic, it happened: - A $1,500 client. - Then a $2,000 client. - Soon after, multiple $2,500 clients. Suddenly, things started falling into place. Now, I'm in a place I never dreamed possible: - I have got my own visa. - I met so many amazing folks. - I explored beautiful places in UAE. - I worked with some of the best clients. - I traveled to 3 countries in the Middle East. - I now have a crystal-clear vision of what I want. - I’ve found my rhythm, and my business is thriving. Looking back, that tough period was a blessing in disguise. It forced me to focus on what truly mattered. The online coaching space changed my life. It gave me freedom I never thought possible. Now, I help other coaches and experts do the same. If you're struggling right now, remember this: Sometimes, letting go of Plan B makes Plan A work. It's not easy, but it's worth it. 2nd year in a row being recognized as Top LinkedIn Arab Word by #Favikon! And that's all thanks to all of you! I started my business 5 years ago with a full-time job and 0 HR background. In my first year: - I converted 0 clients - had a negative ROI (spending on business coaches)  - getting 0 in return. Fast forward to 5 years. I have a business that is making 6 figures with a very healthy profit margin. The only reason why I am sharing this with you is that it all started exactly where you are now. Behind your screen. On LinkedIn. I didn't have anything you don't have today. - I had 1000 connections. - No coaching or recruitment or HR background to "justify" my career choice. Am I good enough vs XYZ in the same field to make it happen?" The list can go on and on. The only thing that will stand between you and making it happen is simple. You. Your mindset. Your dedication. Are you truly willing to make your goal happen? Are you willing to put in the hard work, the long nights, the exhaustion sometimes because you truly believe in it? I can tell you I faced burnout way more than once or twice. And sometimes it hits you in waves. But to get to be recognized as the 84th most influential person in the UAE and only 1 of 2 career coaches to make the top 200, it is worth all the work I put behind it and more. My why drove me to craft a bulletproof program driven from the passion I have for career coaching. So my message today is don't let anything stop you in the way of achieving what you truly want. The Pothole Effect: Navigating Life’s Roadblocks! On my recent trip to Karnataka, we hit a stretch of road that seemed to be more potholes than pavement. Our driver came to a sudden stop and started carefully analyzing the road ahead. Curious, I asked him why we stopped. He replied, "I need to figure out which potholes to avoid and which ones we can handle to keep us safe and the car intact." That got me thinking: in our busy professional lives, how often do we stop to think before we act? The Pothole Effect offers some valuable lessons: 1) Pause and Reflect: Just like our driver, we need to take a moment to assess the situation before making a move. Rushing in without thinking can lead to unnecessary risks. 2) Protect and Prioritize: The driver was focused on our safety, just as we should prioritize our teams and resources when faced with challenges. 3) Strategic Choices: Not every problem needs to be tackled head-on. Sometimes, finding a different approach or path can lead to better outcomes. 4) Adaptability: Roads can be unpredictable, and so can life. Being flexible and willing to adjust our course can help us avoid setbacks and find new opportunities. In a world that often demands speed, let's remember the importance of pausing and considering our options. The best decisions often come from thoughtful reflection and strategic planning. I quit my CFO job in Dubai and build a life coaching business.
