The Australian Government launched the new Australian Government Crisis Management Framework (AGCMF) at the recent 2024–25 Higher Risk Weather Season National Preparedness Summit. The Framework is the Australian Government’s key policy for Australia’s national crisis management arrangements. It acknowledges the pivotal role states and territories play as the first responders to crises and enables consistency in how the Australian Government supports these efforts. The new Framework enhances coordination arrangements and better clarifies the roles of Australian Government ministers and agencies in the face of increasingly complex crises: https://lnkd.in/gs78bq3n

Amid Spain's recent flood crisis, I'm sharing insights from Mergen C&F on the critical importance of proactive crisis preparedness and the value of investing in resilience before disaster strikes. Any thoughts on how this can still happen in 2024? #crisis #spain #resilience #crisismanagement #flooding
Crisis Management in Spain – Lessons in Preparedness and Response As we observe the devastating floods in Spain and the critique surrounding the government's crisis management, there is a powerful reminder for all of us – preparation and real-world testing of emergency response capabilities are essential. While many organizations, including governments, believe they are prepared, the reality often reveals gaps when disaster strikes. Effective crisis management demands more than just plans on paper. Real resilience is built through rigorous training, drills, and simulations that test response strategies under pressure, identify vulnerabilities, and refine coordination among all stakeholders. In situations like this, the difference between theory and reality becomes stark. These moments call for more than reactive measures; they require foresight, proactive planning, and investment in comprehensive risk assessments and response drills. It’s essential to remember that preparation isn’t just about having a plan – it’s about testing and reinforcing that plan continually. When we train, simulate, and evaluate our responses, we ensure that when a crisis hits, our actions can minimize harm and restore stability swiftly. Poor emergency management and inadequate crisis preparedness come at a high cost, whereas investing in drills and comprehensive preparedness typically requires far less—safeguarding financial resources, lives, infrastructure, and public trust. At Mergen C&F, we believe in strengthening resilience through thorough preparedness and are committed to helping organizations develop robust crisis management strategies that withstand the unexpected. #CrisisManagement #EmergencyResponse #Preparedness #Resilience #Flooding #Spain #Disaster #Naturaldisaster

Awareness about Early Warning Systems of Disaster is crucial. Early Warning can reduce loss and damage for disaster.
📢 Early warning systems should include the following four key, interrelated components: 👉Disaster risk knowledge based on systematic collection of data and disaster risk assessments. 👉Detection, monitoring, analysing and forecasting of hazards and possible consequences. 👉Dissemination and communication, by an official source, of authoritative, timely, accurate and actionable warnings, and associated information on likelihood and impact. 👉Preparedness at all levels to respond to the warnings received. Explore the #WordsIntoAction guide on Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems! This guide aims to inspire and support action to build more resilient communities and reduce the impacts of disasters. ➡️ http://ow.ly/8k3J50Ovyr0 #ResilienceForAll #SendaiFramework #EarlyWarningsForAll
