Reflecting on an Unforgettable Weekend at the Founders' Retreat in Gstaad 🏔️✨ This past weekend, we had the privilege of hosting 33 visionary participants for an immersive Founders' Retreat near the stunning mountains of the Bernese Oberland, in partnership with QBIT Capital. The retreat was designed to challenge, inspire, and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs, and it delivered beyond our expectations. 🚀 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event a success: • The incredible participants, whose enthusiasm and commitment were the lifeblood of the retreat.  • QBIT Capital, whose generous support made this enriching experience possible.  • The insightful jury, who guided our participants with their expertise and constructive feedback.  • The dedicated EPFL-UNIL Entrepreneur Club Committee, whose efforts in organizing the event brought this vision to life.  • Estelle Charveriat, Marie AMESTOY, Maxime Baube and Pere Juarez Vives for hosting insightful workshops that set the stage for our weekend. Over the course of the weekend, the participants dived into a 24-hour hackathon focused on market validation. The teams surpassed any doubts that this challenge would be too difficult, making calls to ex-Olympians and CEOs to secure letters of intent, all within a single day (on the weekend!). One team even managed to reach out to 30 relevant and key potential future users. 📈 This weekend was not just about innovation. “Often, people assume I’m much younger than I really am, which undermines my professional credibility,” says Rim Jourdan, co-founder of Skatch and a finalist in the Aurora Tech Award 2024. “When I’m with my team, people might assume I’m the assistant or the junior person.” Looking younger is something many women are encouraged to pursue in daily life. As stated in our rules, we accept any applications that meet basic requirements. However, you’ve probably noticed a trend: all our previous winners and shortlisters aimed for something higher. They helped vulnerable groups, nature, animals, or other businesses in tough situations. Long story short, being impactful is not a must for startups to have a chance of winning. How do we increase success for spin-outs and startups? At the Moonshot Factory we are entrepreneurs and we are innovators. We believe each business should have a Moonshot and believe each Entrepreneurial ecosystem should have a Moonshot. For the past 20+ years we have worked in innovation ecosystems to commercialise new technology, convert great ideas into action and to help ensure that solutions to real world problems have an impact. We believe that each innovation ecosystem has Amplifiers. People who are in a position to affect many entrepreneurs & founders and reach more early stage businesses to help them develop and grow. We believe that creating stronger links between the Amplifiers in different ecosystems and creating collaborative efforts to learn and to support entrepreneurship will make society better. Large conferences and networking events have their place. However, we believe a small event, with a group of selected Innovation Amplifiers working together over two days and creating strong bonds will have a greater impact. Our first workshop took place in Oxford earlier this year with Innovation Amplifiers from Oxford and from Scotland.
