Artist, illustrator and creative art director | I bring your ideas to life!

I’m posting this for anyone who cares to read it but especially for graphic design professionals, creative recruiters, print shops, et al: Why aren’t the new graphic design professionals being taught the basics of print design anymore? I mean, they have no idea about bleeds, trim lines, crop marks, CMYK…BASICS. When I first attended City Tech for my AAS in Art & Advertising Design, these things were amongst the first principles we were taught. (Thank you, Professors Hayes, Mason, and Holden!) I am aware that the trend is digital design and video, now, however despite this, print is NEVER going to completely die—unless you can figure out a way to consume cereal and everything else that requires packaging virtually, print is here to stay. So PLEASE teach the new wave of graphic designers the basics of print design and prepping files for press—just the basics for Pete’s sake. In the meantime, maybe print shops and design houses can hire those of us who know how to do these things. Like me. Just sayin’. I’m available. 👋
