When I first started in the Industry, speaking on stage was about credibility and content to deliver. Nowadays, it's all paid but these stage topics' popularity has decreased too. I guess everyone is looking for the right business model. Yet, it shouldn't be at the cost of poor content or such only purposed to sell. One of our industry's dirty secrets: the vast majority of awards, PR pieces and on-stage appearances are pay to play. Getting nominated usually means coughing up the dough to participate. I don't think it's much different in other industries by the way, and not necessarily bad, but more transparency on those things would be better.
I remember at Scope last year, I saw the same presentation twice by two different users and two companies that seemed to have collaborated.
I’ve stopped going to these events they are painful. I’m in the process of setting up our own event 💯 FREE TO ATTEND and Speak. Looking at starting online only in Y1 but then sponsorship for a in person day event Y2 and Y3 two day event.

4moI actually think this is a problem and needs to be addeessed. Thinking before responding more fully. But glad it has been raised as it has been bothering me for sometime and something I’ve thinking about. I find it especially problematic in pre-competitive collaborative initiatives where only those who can afford to have a voice at the table are represented.
