THREE QUICK, EASY WAYS to improve your awareness in every situation! ONE: When you go into a new room or space (even if you are outdoors), take note of multiple exit points. If a chaotic situation breaks out, you’ll be more likely to make a quick, successful exit. TWO: Briefly take a look at the people around you. Does anyone look potentially ‘off’? What does their body language say? THREE: Last but not least: put the phone away!! So many people are completely unaware, easily become victims and are caught off guard by emergency situations because they have their nose buried in their phones. Be sure to like & share this one!

Partners often attempt to soften the blow of bad news with a preamble: “Please don’t hate me, but…” The problem is that this will have the opposite effect of what they want because of how the brain operates. The brain works at rapid-fire speeds to scan for threats, and in the absence of clear information, it assumes the worst. The longer they take to get to the point, the more activated their partner will become. This will make it difficult for their partner to fully listen and respond rationally. The best way to break bad news is to get straight to the point, pause, and then see how the other person reacts. If necessary, they should immediately repair emotional injuries after sharing the news.
