An interesting take from Freya Pratty in this Sifted article. 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒑'𝒔 𝒓𝒆-𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝑬𝒖𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉? Let's hope so. We've all seen many climate tech companies heading to the 'Land of Opportunity', mainly for its subsidies but could that be about to change. Nobody knows, it is all speculation at the moment but I for one agree with Lena Thiede that Europe's green tech innovators have a huge role to play here, providing they step up and take action. And having worked closely with many European start-ups and leading climate tech VC's, there's still soo much untapped potential and funding available to scale and drive the drive the green transition on European shores. What are your thoughts? #climatetech #opportunity #politics #energytransition
Could Trump's re-election trigger more investment into European climate tech?

Last week, I joined a panel discussion with Kitty Bu, Yasuaki Negishi, Kithmina Hewage and Mercedes Ruehl at FT Live’s Asia Green Tech Summit titled “Best Practice Examples of Public-Private Collaboration to Speed Up Climate Tech Development”. During the panel, I emphasised the crucial role of governments and development banks in attracting funders to allocate resources towards climate action. Specifically, I highlighted the need for governments to design policies that encourage funders to prioritise climate goals. Additionally, the discussion explored a key emerging trend: the intersection of inclusive and sustainable outcomes. This raises the question of how funders can prioritise environmental impact, alongside inclusivity. The panelists all agreed that tools like blended finance offer promising solutions, but it requires localising the solutions as the reality on the ground is often different from what we expect. By shaping policies that support blended finance models, governments and development banks can help unlock private capital for climate tech development. Ultimately, success will depend on a collaborative dance between public and private entities to find the most effective formula for accelerating change. #blendedfinance #climateaction #greentech #socialimpact (Photo credit: FT Live)

How can digitalisation facilitate the green transition? ➡️ Digital infrastructure is a pre-requisite for a successful systemic energy transition. ➡️Data is the “currency of the green transition” enabling circular and sustainable business models to emerge and be successful. We need to work with big tech and the wider digital ecosystem to foster innovation and to ensure that it happens in Europe and benefits all European citizens ➡️EY is working with private and public clients on leveraging digital tools to make compliance with sustainability rules more efficient - BUT legislation also needs to be designed with digital compliance in mind! ➡️ The game changer for the green transition lies in systematic adoption of new, sustainable business models by the 24m SMEs in the EU. The twin transition pathways explicitly show how digitalisation can facilitate this take-up. The next European Commission should focus on working with industry outside the Brussels bubble in implementing these pathways ! #techforclimate #digital #sustainability #transition #climate #compliance Isabella Martorina des Garets Teodora Suciu Serge HANSSENS 🇪🇺🌍 Martin Rune Jensen Liana Suleymanova Karen Massin Ilias Iakovidis Virginijus Sinkevičius Stavros Stamatoukos Alessandro Cenderello Monica Pesce The Tech for Climate Action Event Series

If we believe Trump will double down on the policies of his first administration, Europe should seize the coming months to form a strong coalition aimed at bringing its entrepreneurs home—and to welcome any disillusioned Americans already considering a move in response to the potential shift in U.S. leadership. Why not beat Trump at his own game? The EU should reaffirm its commitment to leading in climate technology, creating a unified space across Europe where these companies can thrive and innovate without constraint. This is an opportunity to establish Europe as a global leader in sustainable tech, fostering a robust environment for growth, resilience, and global impact. #ClimateTech #Sustainability #GreenTech #Innovation #EULeadership #TechForGood #EconomicGrowth #ClimateChange Sifted
