Cybersecurity Maturity isn't a one-size fits all situation. At least annually (preferably more frequent) reevaluate what works, what doesn't, and what is desired, then begin building.  From episode 1 - C-Suite Cyber Podcast

A lot of focus has lately been going towards educating users in relation to the threats of phishing, smishing and vishing. I guess that we can all agree by now that this human firewall security control has reached an acceptable level of maturity in a lot of organizations. It also taught us that wanting to push the fail rate below 3 to 4% is a lost cause. And you know what? That is good enough. There will be cases where the human firewall will fail. That's a fact which is true for any security control. That's why a solid security program consists of layers. Next to the human firewall, you should have other controls in place such as secure email gateways, web content filtering, secure DNS and endpoint security solutions in order to prevent an attacker from dropping its malicious code onto your systems. I was listening to The Virtual CISO podcast this morning and learned about an interesting approach to add to the mix. Why not clean-up suspect files instead of blocking them? We all stop thousands of files at the perimeter because we suspect them to contain malicious content. This often leads to users waiting for files they never receive or endless calls with service desk for the urgent release of that stuck report. The solution which was mentioned on the podcast, Votiro, analyses incoming files and copies the known good bits to a new file which is then sent on to the user. Agreed, this approach raises other questions but for sure sounds like an interesting take on the subject. Do listen in to dive a bit deeper into the details.
