An unremarked upon but totally central skill to both strategy and creative is metaphor. Being able to recognise and conceptualise how similar two unrelated things are.

FOCUS – FROM GRANDMA’S EYES. Okay, could be grandma, grandpa, or simply an elderly character, but take a random scene, then sit behind that older person’s eyes and view the story as it’s unfolding. What does Grandma think? Does this make the scene more, or less interesting? More intense? Less?

📣 Only 4 days to go! Here’s a sneak peek quote from our upcoming cover feature in *Pump It Up Magazine:* “Samir’s rich, textured tone gives the song a grounded, emotional weight, while Victoria’s crystal-clear vocals soar with such grace and vulnerability. The result? Pure magic.” Can’t wait for you to read the full article! #TeaserQuote#CountdownToCover#Shallow
Improvisational thinking at velocity is a practice art. It is a learned practice of behaviors that are agnostic to discipline. The actions one takes after an idea is germinated are guided by these behaviors in order to consistently transition thought to adoption.
Prepare to have your mind blown! 🤯 What if I told you that people listen with their eyes?👀👂 Watch this short video. You'll hear the phrase spoken in it whichever word you read first🙀. By the way, you can repeat the experiment by changing the words. Each time you will hear exactly the word you focused your attention on.🧠 This phenomenon has been dubbed the “McGurk effect.”
The McGurk effect, first observed by cognitive psychologists Harry McGurk and John MacDonald in the 1970s, is a fascinating example of how our brains can be fooled by conflicting visual and auditory cues. When lip movements for one sound (e.g., "pah") are paired with the audio of another (e.g., "fah"), our brains often perceive it as the sound "pah". 😲 This illusion persists even when we're aware of the mismatch, demonstrating the incredible power of visual information in shaping our auditory perception. 👀👂
The McGurk effect highlights the multimodal nature of speech perception, with our brains seeking the simplest interpretation of the available sensory data.
In everyday life, the McGurk effect can be observed in the difference between face-to-face communication and phone conversations. 📞 Visual cues from facial movements and lip-reading enhance our ability to understand speech, while their absence can lead to misinterpretations or requests for repetition.
Smart brands understand the implications of the McGurk effect and pay close attention to the visual aspects of their marketing efforts. 💡 As I discussed in my previous article on The Power of Visual Marketing (find it here: https://lnkd.in/d92FRkFK), visuals have a profound impact on how we perceive and process information🧠.
For marketers, recognizing the interplay between visual and auditory elements is crucial to ensure they work together to convey a clear and compelling message, causing the desired effect. 📣💥

POV– THE CAT ON THE CHAIR. Smile a play with me. Imagine a really important scene in your work in progress told completely from the point of view of a cat on a chair watching. Cats care little about human interactions, so this should be fun and interesting, right?

Focusing on themes of healing, trust, and grace in times of stress, Hearth aims to encourage viewers to reflect on how difficult times can shape the future and give room for growth and is based on the idea of Ecological Succession. This phenomenon explains the tendency of burnt down forests and meadows to grow back more lush and ecologically successful after wildfires and controlled burns due to the charcoal and ash created by the fire. The destruction of one forest allows for the opportunity for a healthy, strong, and healed one to take its place, continuing on a cycle of death and rebirth present throughout nature as a whole as well.
Hearth features a single character in two stages of life - an unhealed, recently damaged Barren and a recovering, gentler Growing. The piece uses creatures formed out of wooden branches and sticks to represent the human soul in the stages of grief and healing from traumas, represented by fire. Growing understands that fire can be powerful and destructive, but when controlled and monitored it is also a source of warmth and comfort. Barren, who is made up of burnt pieces and has no nature returned to it yet, does not see the comfort that warmth can bring, only destruction. The piece ends with Barren finally sitting beside Growing, allowing itself to be warmed and comforted by the fire and the presence of a friend and ally in its healing journey.

Twinkle twinkle little star by Peculiarly Positive Perspectives
The main idea of the text is about the significance and beauty of a little star in the night sky, symbolizing hope, comfort, and the vastness of the universe. "Twinkle, twinkle, little star, high above like a diamond in the sky. Your light shines in the dark blue sky, never sleeping, always watching. Your presence brings comfort and wonder, reminding us of the vast beauty of the universe. A guiding light offering hope and direction in the night sky."
