💯 Founder-led sales is a powerful thing. As a founder, I've learned that getting your hands dirty with sales in the early stages is not only crucial but necessary. High Five is only 1 month old and I've operated and headed every function in the company. But none is as important as the sales function. Why is it important? 1. You develop a deep customer understanding. Nothing beats direct conversations with potential customers to truly grasp their pain points and needs. This happens mostly subconsciously - you develop empathy and you begin to think like your customers. Second hand learnings are acquired more slowly and full of biases. 2. Able to iterate rapidly. When you're talking to customers yourself, you can quickly adapt your product based on real-time feedback. Just the other day, we added a recruitment service to our company after a couple of meetings with customers. 3. Building trust with customers. Early customers are taking a BIG risk working with your startup. Having the founder personally involved builds trust and shows commitment. It also shows that you'll go the extra mile to keep them satisfied. 4. Reps on refining your pitch. There's no better way to perfect your value proposition than by presenting it repeatedly. Pitching will become muscle memory and this will serve you well in all aspects of running your startup. 5. Building a strong sales foundation. By doing sales yourself, you gain firsthand experience of what works and what doesn't. This knowledge is invaluable when it comes time to build your future sales team, ensuring they're equipped with proven strategies and insights. At the end of the day, no one should be better than you at pitching or selling your product and service. Don't outsource this role too early to ANYONE. No matter how experienced they are. The insights you gain from these early sales conversations are invaluable for shaping your product and company 🚀. For me personally, it's been an incredible journey so far, meeting with brilliant founders and learning about their startups. 🤔 What's been your experience with founder-led sales?
