The HGV industry faces significant challenges that impact its operations: - High operating costs, driver shortages, inadequate road infrastructure, and environmental pressures are straining the haulage sector. - In the UK, road transport plays a crucial role, moving 98% of food and agricultural products and 89% of all freight. With around 60,000 road haulage firms, the industry contributes £13.5 billion annually to the UK economy, representing 5.6% of the GDP. - Despite its essential role in supply chains and the economy, the industry operates in a fiercely competitive environment with slim profit margins and increasing regulatory burdens. For businesses in the haulier industry grappling with these issues: - Increased business costs - Pressure from driver shortages on wage growth - Transport expenses inflated by poor infrastructure - Demand for significant environmental investments - Costs associated with adopting digital/AI technologies - Understanding the business implications and future prospects If you're facing these challenges, consider reaching out to DriverHire. Day 270 - Week 39 2024 . Driver Inc. is Hurting Canada's Trucking Industry – It's Time for Action ! it’s alarming to see how the Driver Inc. scheme continues to exploit drivers, erode labor standards, and cost Canadian taxpayers over $1 billion annually...(Toronto Star Artice)....2023... For over 5 years, the federal government has promised to tackle this issue, but so far, Real action is lacking.. Driver Inc. isn’t just a tax scam – it's creating an uneven playing field that undercuts compliant companies and undermines worker protections... Truck drivers deserve fair pay, access to WSIB, paid sick leave, and proper benefits. But under this illegal model, many are left without these critical protections. Meanwhile, tax dollars that should be funding our roads, healthcare, and public services are siphoned into the underground economy. It’s time for Canada to step up and **Abolish Driver Inc.** and protect the rights of our hardworking drivers. We need nationwide enforcement and stronger regulatory action, not just pilot programs. Our drivers keep our economy moving—it's time we stand up for them. #DriverInc #TruckDrivers #LaborRights #FairPay #WSIB #CanadianEconomy #TaxFraud #TruckingIndustry #CRA

Supporting Through Peak Time: Scotland's HGV Driver Shortage 🚚 As we approach the busiest time of the year, the HGV driver shortage in Scotland becomes even more pressing. This tough situation is affecting many businesses, with supply chains working hard to keep up. This issue has been brewing for some time now. According to recent data, Scotland alone needs an extra 8,500 drivers to meet current demands (Logistics UK). Without enough drivers, retailers and other industries might face delays just as the festive season amplifies demand, impacting both businesses and consumers who rely on timely deliveries. Agencies play a key role during these peak times. By helping businesses fill these gaps, agencies can ensure smoother operations and timely deliveries. It's crucial for companies to revisit their recruitment strategies and join forces with agencies to draw new talent into the industry. #Transport #Logistics #Scotland
