Aquaculture is always at the forefront of my thoughts—a journey that unfolds day by day. Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to all my social media connections. Your contributions enrich us, keeping us informed, knowledgeable, and connected. Every day, there's a post somewhere that sparks a EUREKA moment, and I strive to reciprocate in kind. We're all sailing in the same boat, and it's imperative that every side remains afloat to reach our common destination: Aquaculture. Whether it's small or large-scale, freshwater or marine, local or global, land-based or aquatic, with diverse species and markets, we're part of the fastest-growing agricultural sector globally. Yet, despite our strides, we're not achieving our fullest potential. The question persists: why? Today, while scrolling through my social media feed, I stumbled upon a revelation amidst the challenges and opportunities that I feel compelled to share. DFA Lesson For Today... The greatest need for Aquaculture and Agriculture is for investors to believe in farmers. Whether it's a family member, friend, bank manager, angel investor, or venture capitalist, be that believer. The toughest capital to secure is the seed or startup capital because the entrepreneur is armed with nothing but an idea, perhaps a product or a small business, fueled by a dream, vision, and mission. They're asking someone, possibly with limited knowledge of their project, or even a panel of investors who may not fully grasp their vision. The key is to believe in your journey, keep forging ahead, networking, promoting, and persisting. A door will open, and a breakthrough will come. At Kelp Blue, our Return on Inspiration drives us forward—and we’re doing it again! 🙌 We’re on track to issue Africa’s FIRST corporate blue bond next year, raising funds to expand our Giant Kelp forests along Namibia’s coast. The first $20 million tranche of a $173 million program will list on the Namibian Stock Exchange (NSX) in 2025, with the bond dedicated to sustainable aquaculture. The debt will be the World's first (!) blue bond committed to funding sustainable aquaculture. Kelpie Cayne Moffat, CFA, explains "The creation of an instrument of this type will allow other companies in a similar industry to acquire funding more easily". Last week, Moody's Ratings assigned our Blue Bond framework the excellent SQS1 Sustainability Quality Score—the highest rating, held by only 8% of applicants globally. This showcases that the assessment of Kelp Blue’s Blue Bonds has demonstrated excellent standards, governance, and impact potential - highly valued by stakeholders. PayGreen is supported by InnoSuisse and the FHNW 🎓 PayGreen is currently running its crowdinvesting campaign on conda.ch. The company has developed a payment solution that contributes to CO₂ reduction without greenwashing. The idea has been supported by Innosuisse and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) since the company was founded. The innovative sustainable business model has already won over many companies and organisations. For example, PayGreen developed an initial scalable CO₂ assessment in collaboration with Innosuisse and the FHNW.
