𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬: 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐒𝐀 🏡🌍 At KIJIJI ATLANTA, our mission is to create beautiful spaces that celebrate #africanculture. This month, in the KIJIJIGazeti, we explore the complex intersection of #blackspaces and land ownership in the United States. The fight for land is a story rooted in centuries of struggle, resilience, and survival within a system shaped by white European settler colonialism. Our communities thrive through the creation of courtyard communities, but that process requires land ownership—something that has been a battleground for African Americans since the Reconstruction era. 🌱 Land is power, and ownership is freedom. Join us this month as we discuss the past, present, and future of Black Land Ownership. Let’s build a future that reclaims space and celebrates culture. 🔗 Dive in now: https://kijijiatlanta.com/ #AfricanCommunity #buyhome #dreamhome #buildyourhome #blackcommunities #blackinvestors #africanculture #blackownedbusiness #landownership #landforsaleinatlanta #kijijiatlanta #realestateinvestor #landforsale #FutureInvestments #communitybuilding

Very interesting article on the influence of Black caddies on the game of golf by my Spatial Research & Design colleague Craig Gill. Definitely worth a read!
Dipped my toes back into my old historical work and wrote about the rich history of skilled Black caddies at this week's U.S. Open venue, Pinehurst, North Carolina. Read it here in TIME's Made by History column: https://lnkd.in/gusDQm6e

How much has your state represented Native Americans? How well are Native Americans incorporated into its governance? The same should be asked about local governments. Kudos to Gov. Wes Moore and the state of #maryland for noting the core part of the fabric of his state (and the fabric of the union). #governance #representation #diversity #nativeamericans #localgovernment #stategovernment #nativeamericanheritage
Maryland's indigenous tribes are a core part of the fabric of our state. On Native American Heritage Day, we honor their foundational legacy in shaping Maryland’s past and their role in building its future. Let’s commit to ensuring Indigenous Marylanders have a voice and an active role in the important work ahead as we build a Maryland where we leave no one behind.

Thanks to Mayor G.T. Bynum, former mayors recently gathered for a collegial evening to tell stories of meaningful moments, share advice and enjoy a few laughs with Mayor-Elect Monroe Nichols as he prepares to launch his tenure in office. The Office of Mayor is a special position that gives each leader the opportunity to make Tulsa a better place for their fellow Tulsans. We all pledged to support Mayor Monroe Nichols in his work for our community! G.T. Bynum Dewey F Bartlett, Jr Susan Savage Rodger Randle

Neither the fanatics nor the faint-hearted are needed. And our duty as a Party is not to our Party alone, but to the nation, and, indeed, to all mankind. Our duty is not merely the preservation of political power but the preservation of peace and freedom. So let us not be petty when our cause is so great. Let us not quarrel amongst ourselves when our Nation's future is at stake. Let us stand together with renewed confidence in our cause -- united in our heritage of the past and our hopes for the future -- and determined that this land we love shall lead all mankind into new frontiers of peace and abundance. -- President John Fitzgerald Kennedy (May 29, 1917 - November 22, 1963)

The not-so-secret method to starting what will be a successful negotiation
PhD-trained scientist and a PMP-certified product development leader with over 30 years of international experience in programs ranging from early stage to lifecycle management in multiple TA and multiple modalities.
The fundamental secret to starting successful negotiation is to begin where we have common ground, similar values. This point has been made by many world leaders, including former president Jimmy Carter whose success in the Middle East is well known. This is yet another lesson of which we are sadly reminded of by the tragedy of October 7, 2023, and as pointed out by the late Sir Jonathan Sacks and explained in this video: https://lnkd.in/dtitDFMr

We invented zoning. And the cost of running a city is based on the linear feet of sewer, water, sidewalks, and roads. Walkable cities not only create more of a sense of community, but they're less expensive to operate. So, why are we having so much trouble updating our zoning ordinances to reflect how our lifestyles and communities are evolving?
“We built cities all over America that are designed for automobiles and not designed for people... Our housing costs are high, in part because of the way that we've designed our cities." - North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum at the National Governors Association Winter Meetings
