I’ve never been, nor do I consider myself now an "animal lover." I don't geek out over cute animals or rush to pet dogs. you don't need to be an animal lover to be #vegan. you simply have to believe that unnecessarily exploiting and killing animals is wrong. that's it. period. if you believe that, you believe in the core principle of #veganism. given that the science is quite conclusive that (outside of certain extreme examples that are very uncommon in developed countries) we "don't need" any animal foods or products to thrive... the idea that a proper plant-based diet is nutritionally sufficient is not controversial in the scientific community… in fact, there’s a damn strong case that it’s the optimal diet for longevity and performance. the consumption of such products is inherently NOT necessary. and while I don't love animals... I do value their lives, bodily autonomy, and sentience enough to not exploit them for my sensory pleasure. and that's why after a over decade of eating a plant based diet, I am proud to call myself a vegan. no hate. no shade. no shame. no judgement. just want to share my perspective on something that is an important part of my life today on #worldveganday.

This is such a rational way to look at it. Breaking down complex ethical choices to simple principles makes perfect sense. We don't need to fit stereotypes or check all the boxes to make conscious choices. Sometimes the simplest logic leads to the most meaningful decisions 🌱
